06-11 Si. Does it get stolen?
Are these cars as hot as a ITR sitting at Walmart? Sure, all Hondas can get stolen. But overall, are the Si models an instant target?
Are they mostly wanting the K20 engine? Wheels? or.....
What have you seen, heard, or read?
Thinking about a used Si.

As far as I know, not so much. The 99-00 EM1 is still more of a theive magnet than this gen civic. The car has a drive by wire system which makes it more of an *** pain for anyone that wants the motor. The only 8th gen SI i remember seeing raped, was the 08 Mugen SI, there were pictures of it all over the internet. Like anything else, if a thieves want something, they will figure out a way to get it, so don't let that dis sway you if you want the car.

It's a sad world when you have to base your vehicle purchase on how likely it will get stolen from you... Just get what you want, you only live once!

Very true. My first choice would be an ITR. I will mostly likely have to overpaid to get one (that I want). It would be sad if it got stolen if I drive it to work. But I don't want to go off topic in this (Civic) section.

I've got a 99 SI. Love it. I wouldn't base your choice off that stuff man. There are many different ways to wire a car or get an alarm system so that only someone who knows the car can get it started. I believe there is a forum on this site for fuel cut off and other theft deterrents. Moral of the story is, get what you want and what makes you happy. Just secure it afterwards.

ITR>>> is way more of a theft magnet, an 06-11 Si is much safer as far as being stolen goes. Honestly I haven't seen or heard of any getting stolen (around here at least, DFW) If you really want an ITR, have a garage and find a daily beater.

To go even more off topic, my next vehicle will be an STi which I've been obsessed with since the first gen that came to USA. If it ever got stolen, I'd just get another.. no biggie. Doesn't insurance cover that?

but 01 and up cars have an immobilizer in it, the only way to bypass the immobilizer and i know this because my friends 01 integra ls got jacked, all they did was switch the ecu and use a jumper harness, thats how the police found the car so i told him hell yea now sell that **** lol...
but on newer cars, you cant switch ecu's with a jumper harness, rsx and new civics with the k series or any of the 01 and up civics have an immobilizer, and to my belief the only way to bypass that would to have a hondata ecu for that year car, and i know that because my friend had an 06 rsx type s with mods and hondata and his immobilizer light was always on and he told me it didnt work anymore
but i dont think a theif is going to pay for the ecu and then get hondata to jack ur car honestly you should be safe...
get a gps alarm like the dei or viper hide the alarm and get battery backup, as soon as the car moves it will notify you, and then track the car, and i know this because i have one
