STOCK oil requirements Q
Does anyone know what type of oil (regular or synthetic) a Honda Dealership would use when they change your oil? Typically I would use synthetic irregardless, but it's not my car.
The car in question here is an 05 Civic EX (autslow). 2.2L Vtec (although from the model you guys probably already knew that last bit). She has a maintenance warranty, where the dealer will change oil and whatnot for her at no cost, but we're heading out of town this week, and she doesn't have time to get it done before we go (and it NEEDS an oil change).
So, that said, I don't want to put synthetic in there if the dealership is going to be putting regular oil in there afterwards... I don't want her motor to get all gummed up just for the sake of having good oil in there once.
Thanks from a Dubber...

None on me... they're all on my old computer. What year? There is no "Type R" out (yet... in another 3 years there will be). There's an R32, but that's a 3.2L AWD, and not Turbo (although that's not to say he didn't turbo it)... the R32 also isn't a GTI... it's the same body style, but not a GTI.

I'm sure if you pay a few $$ extra they will fill with synthetic.
But all Honda dealers I've ever seen use good quality dyno oil.
It's a Honda--run it on dyno oil and it'll last 200K miles without problems. It's not like you are looking to get that last 1% performance increase out of it.

Just an FYI, in case anyone else wants to know at some point down the road...
the dealership that my gf bought her car from (Dick-Ide Honda in Rochester, NY) uses Petroleum oil (standard oil) for their oil changes... however, you can request synthetic oil to be used in its place.
Being that my girlfriend will never remember to request synthetic (and the fact that I'm going to end up paying for her oil) I'm not going to go with synthetic.
So it looks like the standard oil is going to vary by dealership... quite strange coming from the 'dub world, where no dealer even thinks about using anything but synthetic.
