SRS Light On

Re: SRS Light On
That sounds like a good possibility. I pulled the SRS code myself by shorting the diagnostic connector and counting the flashes. It indicated the driver's seat belt switch. I called the dealer and they made me bring it in so they could read the code. They found the same code I came up with. They ordered the part and then put it in under warranty. Apparently some dealers will not warranty this because under the lifetime seat belt warranty because they say the switch is not actually the seat belt. However when I asked the parts dept. you can't buy the switch only. You have to buy the whole seat belt buckle with the switch????? After you have the code I would ask the dealer if they will warranty it and if not try another dealer.

Re: SRS Light On
the error code on mine is drivers seat belt latch. They used to reset it and it would return after a day or two. I happen to get a new battery, and that seem to help. could be a lower voltage issue in the battery or charging system.

Re: SRS Light On
I recently purchased an 03 Civic EX that has the srs light on. I carfaxed it, to ensure the airbags had never been deployed. So I took my car to my local sealership and was informed that my car has never been registered with American Honda. It wasnt sold in the states. Yet the carfax report states it was sold in Arizona. wtf?!

Re: SRS Light On
So I called the dealership back o try nd reconfirm the VIN, turns out they mistyped it. My civic was sold in Tempe, Az. So they will reset the srs light and check out my seatbelt buckles as this seems to be the most likely cause.

Re: SRS Light On
Wow, finally got Long Beach Honda to fix my SRS light due to a faulty seat beat buckle. Afters months of dealing with them they finally caved in and replaced it all for free! They wanted to charge for inspections fee and labor, talking about parts are only warrantied. BS, call or email Honda national HQ and they'll help you out but it takes awhile to hear back from them. I hope no one goes thru what I did in this journey.

Re: SRS Light On
I own a 2002 Civic EX and the SRS light is on the dash board. The bags never deployed nor was it in a accident but the light turned on while driving on the fwy a few days ago. It has about 140k miles and I checked all the fuses/all Ok. Any recommendations on how to fix or anyone had the same problem?
Thank you for every1's Help

I have the same thing. I paid the dealer to reset it and it went off again.
Turns out its the seatbelt. Mines covered under manufacture warranty. Yours maybe too.

The post you replied to is over two years old. I get the feeling it's no longer an issue.

Re: SRS Light On
I ( & others) respect your "feelings" & just wish that were the case. Unfortunately, as long as there are dSealers who insist on being a-holes about warrantee work, then we must all keep looking after each other, right?
Item: 03/7/13 Son (buyer) & seller take 2004 Civic C Lx 1.7 to "Chowdy Honda" (nearest to seller of 3 in area) for a "Multipoint insp. Buyers CK."
2. Customer states SRS light is on
2a.: Replace Drivers Tensioner <Seat Belt> .(CD 3-1 Drivers seat belt tensioner open.)------------ $ 515.00 !!!
This was, of course, only ONE of the total INsults on this report. (I will not list the others as they do not pertain to this thread.
Item: My research: (you can find same here)
https://owners.honda.com/Documentum/...s/awl25237.pdf
Quote copied & pasted from Honda:
Seat Belt Limited Warranty:
Your Warranties in Detail 31 While seat belts cannot completely
remove the possibility of injury, they do provide a very significant
level of protection when used properly.
Honda believes the best way to enhance your safety is to use your seat belt. To encourage their use, the seat belts should always be in good operating condition.
Time Period!!!!_____<<>>
This warranty continues for the useful life of the vehicle.
Warranty Coverage
Honda will repair or replace, at its option, any Honda seat belt component that fails to function properly during normal use. This includes all parts and labor charges.
This Warranty Does Not Cover:
• Replacement of a properly functioning seat belt assembly strictly for cosmetic or comfort reasons.
• Failure caused by abuse, alteration, accidental damage, misuse, or malfunction resulting from a collision.
I Trust that this will "Finally Satisfactorily answer" all the strife surrounding the Question of "Who How What Why When" relating to "HONDA Seat Belts
& ALL of their related COMPONENTS"
I personally plan on obtaining a copy of same "Warranty Book" & presenting it + the car to a more reliable dSealer to get the work done, on HONDA'S Nickel.
Thank You all for your time & contributions to this & all the other sites.
