Default Shift/ linear solenoid

Wanting to buy this 03 civic ex sedan for 2900 with 130k the person selling said check engine light is on for shift solenoid . Anyone know how hard itd be to replace shift and or linear solenoid? Thanks

Post the actual CEL/D4 codes yourself and check whether the code returns after resetting the ECU.

IMO, the asking price is too high for an '03 EX with auto-trans problems. You should be able to find one without mechanical issues in the same price range. If I were you, I'd keep searching.. and find one with a manual transmission. (few[er] issues)

Relatively easy. Just a harness, a few bolts, and a gasket. Shouldn't take long.

^ That. Reset the ECM (remove fuse #6 under the hood for 30 seconds, then re-place it.) and take the car for a test drive. If the CEL comes back on, find out exactly which code is thrown. Never settle for the seller's word. Ever.


I still say, you should buy a different car.

We'll the car is like an hour drive away so just wanted more experienced opinions if would be worth it or not. In my area ppl are 90s Hondas alone with like 200k for 2500-4000 haha but thanks for the info guys I'll probably just pass on it then
