Replacing Engine & A/C lines (Searched)
So my engine is toast, i have a new one already and i plan on removing it(from the top) this weekend. My Car has AC and id really like to keep it, Ive already searched but couldnt find a good answer, I know i have to unbolt the AC compressor from the engine, But can i actually remove the engine without having to dischange my AC system?
Looks like if i remove the trans, i can pull the engine towards the passenger side and pull it up and out from there and clear the AC lines that run over the top of the Timing belt cover.

Have not seen it done on a 1.7, try it with removing ps pump, alternator, and radiator to get clearance. The suction line only has a small length of rubber in it, mostly rigid formed alunimum. Could always try to drop your engine. Let us know how it works out. What went on your factory engine?

The lines will move some. Looks like you could possibly slide the engine around them. If not, go out the bottom. If you can't take it out the bottom then the best thing to do is tow it to the nearest A/C machine, have it vacced down, write down the exact amount of refrigerant taken out, plug both sides of any connection taken apart, then have the same amount of refrigerant put back in after you're done.
...or you could vent the system, plug the connections, then guess how much refrigerant to put back in and hope it's the right amount.

I had a worn ring or 2 and i was burning some oil for the last few months, the weekend past i blew the head gasket and warped the head while trying to make it home. my buddy works for parts yard and got me an engine & trans for $500 with only 85K km's on it, mine had 235K before she died, it faired me well for the amount of abuse ive handed the poor thing haha

My 2004 is starting to get tired as well, got my first misfire code on Monday at 169,000 km, rotate the coil packs and see if it happens again. Hopefully something simple such as a coil.

Ill have 4 spare coils after this weekend, let mew know if you need one.
Also hows your plugs? 160K is around when you should change them, i did mine at 145k and they were pretty well toasted then.
Gotta Love atlantic Canada's Gas, haha

Only have 75,000 ish km on plugs, they looked ok, gap was on spec. Waitng to see if/when happens next. When you purchase fuel Thunder Bay and westward, cars runs better, and you get a bit better fuel economy compared to the middle east crude used in the eastern half of Canada
