Brake shoes might need adjustment or overall replacement.

mine do the same thing. when i release the pedal, i hear a squeek from the rear brakes. doesnt squeek when i apply them, so i wouldnt think its because they need replaced. I assumed it was a return spirng on the shoes or something.

It's a common Honda problem. Just needs some lube.

My left drum does the same thing, it really gets annoying with the windows down. I have been thinking about swapping to disks all around.

ive seen people that drive hard on these 7thgens with rear drums and go 60k with them and still have a TON of meat left of them. most likely they just need an alignment.

The squeal noise could be caused by the shoes contacting the back plates. You can try these two steps.
1. apply some high-temperature brake grease to the contact points between the shoes and the back plates. (make sure no grease on the brake surfaces)
2. replace retaining clips (or just fix them by opening them wider before putting them back on).

Among other reasons not to use WD-40, it doesn't last long enough.

WD-40 is water-based. Using it will only prevent the noise for a very short time.

Not WD-40, which is for rust. Go to any auto parts store to ask High Temperature Grease (for brake, bearing ...) about $5.

Mine used to do this. I see a few 7thgens on the streets with the same thing.
I have discs now, though.......
