Default P1361 TDC Sensor

I have an '01 Civic LX. Lost power the other day, got OBD code P1361 - TDC Sensor. I see references to both the Camshaft Position Sensor and the Crankshaft Position Sensor. Any suggestions on how I determine which one is the culprit? Car is currently running fine and the check engine light cleared itself, but I don't want to get stranded somewhere if it happens again.

Default Re: P1361 TDC Sensor

I had a similar thing happen a few years ago (01 LX btw) after long drives in hot weather. One day it cut out as I pulled into my neighborhood and I was able to dog it into my driveway. Per the service manual (pg 11-7) P1361 is the TDC. P0335/0336 is the CKP sensor. Fortunately, for the TDC all you have to do is pull the valve cover and the upper timing belt cover to get to it. You're wise to change it IMO. Not an expert but hope that helps.

Instructions in service manual are on pg 6-51 if I remember right. Not sure if Haynes has it.

Thanks for your feedback! When I spoke with Advance Auto, they were unfamiliar with "TDC" sensor and they're telling me it's the Crankshaft Position Sensor, but I'm not convinced they know what they're talking about...
