Default overflow hose keeps popping off

So some brief history...recently replaced radiator, 2 main radiator hoses, waterpump, headgasket and machined the head. I am now having a problem that in warm weather, the radiator overflow hose keeps getting forced off the radiator next to the cap. There is no clamp on this hose, but as far as I know, there is no reason there should be any pressure on this hose, so the clamp shouldnt be necessary. Any ideas what could be causing this? its the same thing that was happening when my HG was blown, but thats obviously not the case anymore? Also, can anyone confirm there should not be a clamp on this hose? again its the hose directly to the right of the radiator cap that goes to the overflow bottle
thanks

Dude.

Just put a freaking clamp on it. Problem solved.

Also it might be overstretched.

CLAMP IT.

Just to be certain test the coolant for exhaust gases.

Yes, I realize its that simple, but dont want to put a band-aid on it. I was asking if there is any logical reason for the pressure buildup. Havnt checked for exhaust gasses, but again, the HG has like 400 miles on it. I would be very surprised if that was the issue. will check it though, thanks

chawski, I know this post is old, but did you ever figure out what was causing the hose to pop off?

I am having the same problem (which I found only after my car has been overheating like crazy). The only thing I can find is a weird coupler-type part in the overflow line, about half way between the tank and radiator. Two hoses connected by this coupler. The coupler looks like it is very restrictive to the flow of the coolant. I'm not sure if this is stock, or if a previous owner put it in.

Thoughts?

My guess is a bad thermostat. If you have indeed overheated the car, look into getting some money together for a headgasket and cylinder head machining.
