Re: Oil Change Intervals
Reason I ask is I have always been doing it every 5k miles. Using Royal Purple.
Now, I got an 01 and my dad has an 03. and he tells me he has been doing it every 10k miles cause that's what's in the manual.
This right?

Re: Oil Change Intervals
I too noticed my 2003 Civic's manual says every 10k miles or one year, using non-synthetic 5W-20 oil. (For severe driving conditions, there is a different change interval.) I think the longer change interval is due to oil standards changing. See the wikipedia entry for "motor oil." I am going to keep reading on the subject before I do my first oil change on my new used 2003 Civic.

Re: Oil Change Intervals
For severe driving conditions its 5000 miles. But something to consider is honda's conditions for severe driving conditions is frequent stop and go traffic, driving weather over 90deg or making frequent trips less than 5miles.
