My Build Thread
I bought my 2004 Magnesium Metallic(Mag Mike)Honda Civic Ex brand new on December 31, 2003. The reason was because i got into an accident with my 91 miata on GMR(Glendora Mountain Road) and it was totalled. For awhile, I kept my car stock, due to the fact I didn't have any money to spend(my sis payed half and i paid the other half for the car). But then slowly i started getting parts.
My first ever mod was the Neuspeed rear sway/tiebar combo. It made a heck of a diff. to the handling of the car. My second mod was an authentic 5Zigen Fireball catback exhaust. I loved that exhaust(I had one on my miata before). It gave me more mid-end power. My 3rd mod was a Neuspeed Front Strut Bar. It tightened up the steering feel to the car. My 4th mod was an AEM Short Ram intake. I knew intakes for our cars didn't do much at all, but i got it anyways for the sound. That was it for my first round of mods. About a 2 yrs later(2005) I changed out 2 parts for the car. The first part that i changed out was the AEM Short Ram intake. I found a person on 7thgencivic.com(which is civicforums.com now) that was selling his AEM V2 intake for 75 bucks used. So i picked that up, got home and took out my short ram and put the v2 on. I sold my old intake for 50 bux to another guy on 7thgencivic.com. The second part i changed out was the 5Zigen catback exhaust. Like i said before, i loved this exhaust, but i just wanted a diff. look. I found a person on 7thgencivic.com that was selling his HKS Hi-power axleback used for $115. So i bought it, and installed it when i got home. I sold my 5zigen exhaust for $300 to another guy on 7thgencivic.com.
The next yr.(2006) I started looking into lowering my car. At first i wanted to get some lowering springs and struts. I actually bought some Eibach Sportline lowering springs from a guy on ebay, new for $110 shipped(which was a steal). But i never got around to installing them on my car. And some things came up, so i decided to sell them. I sold them to a guy on 7thgencivic.com(Spoonem) for $100. A couple of months past, when i decided that i wanted to really lower my car this time. So one day i was browsing in the 7thgencivic.com for sale/trade ads. I discovered an ad for a guy(k20me) selling his used but in great condition tein basics for 400 obo. I sent him a pm, and i offered him $375 and he accepted!!!! So a couple of nights later, i picked them up from him. I did not get around to installing the coilovers for a couple of months though(was bz with work and drama ) Finally one day, I installed them and lowered my car 1.5" all around. The ride was great, and i was happy with the drop. As the yr. went on, I started buying more and more parts for the car. New Depo Blacked Out Headlights $150, New Greddy Shift **** $35, New Revo Short Shifter $70, New Razo Pedals $40, New Pioneer Indash AVH 5700DVD $350, Used spc rear camber kit $70, New spc front camber bolts $25.
As 2007 rolled around, i decided to upgrade my headlight lowbeams to a hid pnp kit. So I bought one from a seller on craigslist for $115(4300k). I also needed to get a relay kit for the hids, so i got one for $20 shipped on ebay. When i got the relay, i installed the hids and aimed my lights so there wouldn't be any glare for oncoming drivers etc.. The next mod i got that year was actually another head unit. This time it was a used but in great condition Pioneer AVH P6600DVD indash for $325 shipped on ebay. I took out my old indash, and sold it on craigslist for $375, and installed my new headunit. Those mods are it for 2007
Around March 2008, i wanted to get some rims for my car. I had always wanted to get a set of SSR Comps. They are very lightweight, durable and strong, and i loved the look of the machined lip and anthracite finish of the spokes. Ever since my miata days, those were the wheels that i wanted the most. They were very popular among miata enthusiasts/auto-x due to their weight and durability. One day while i was looking in the for sale/trade ads on civicforums.com(formerly 7thgencivic.com) a familiar face(K20me) was selling a used but good condition set of 17" SSR Comps(fate is kool isn't it?!) w/no tires for $600 and a set of 17" Volk Le37K with tires for $900. Don't get me wrong, i think Volks are great rims, but it just seems like everyone and there moms has them these days(pardon the saying). So i pm him with an offer of $500 for the SSR's and he says thats fine. So i pick them up with a very big smile on my face!!! I decide on holding off buying tires and puttin them on my car, only until my stock tires get bald. May comes around and my stock tires finally get bald. So i buy some 215/40/17 tires and get them mounted on my SSR's. After getting them mounted, i put the rims on and lowered my car a little more. The next mod i got was a brand new alpine cda-9887 w/iPod cable for $309 shipped on ebay. i sold my old headunit for $305 on craigslist. Then I got some JDM EP3 Red H front and rear emblems for $65. Then i got a free type r lip from mrtrinh on civicforums.com. I then got some black RSX front leather seats for $170. Next mod was some brand new Weathertech window visors for $60 shipped. Next was a JL Audio W3v3 in a sealed enclosure for $100 and Kenwood KAC-8104D amp for $100. And then i made my own easy access trunk floor for about $35. Then i got a new 99-00 polyurethane mugen style lip for $60. Then i finally put my DC5 clear sidemarkers($20)on, a couple of weeks ago. I got some gold Skunk2 LCA's for $110 brand new from a guy on honda-tech.com, and installed them the next day.
My future mods for the car, include some retrofitted TSX projectors into my Depo headlights, yellow foglights, get my tsunami roof spolier painted, a pair of takata harnesses, harness bar, maybe some DC5 recaro seats, wilwood bbk, carbon fiber hood, trunk and front lip, and then finally a k20 swap.
Now for pics(i dont have any pics of the car stock, so yeah...):
