Honda civic 2005 ABS brake problem
So i just bought my honda civic 2005 with 13,800 miles on it for 15000 from a dealer. The car is honda certified. It's been almost 5 months and today was the first time i drove it in snow. Now this snow storm was bad, snow all over the roads. So i was driving and i approached a light and i hit the brakes slightly hard. My ABS brakes activated and worked but the sound is horrible, it's not a normal grinding sound that happens in good roads when i accidentally brake too hard. Instead it's like a high pitch squeaking sound. Like the sound is awful, high pitched like nails on a chalkboard sound. Just wondering if thats normal? because i've driven other cars and their ABS is just a loud grinding sound even in the snow.

Re: Honda civic 2005 ABS brake problem (Miracle)
Usually, a brake system wouldn't squeal unless it was time to replace the pads/resurface the rotors.
But since you are still under warranty, and are concerned, take it to the dealer and have the inspect it and see what they can come up with.

The ABS going off is gonna sound like a spring or a pump or something... kind of a waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa sound in addition to the pulsing noise from the calipers. If its a legitmate squeel, get it looked at. But a whine, is probably the ABS at work.
