Default ES D15Y3 and D17A engine mounting.

Are they having the same Engine mount?
I toasted my D15Y3 last night(return hose of radiator worn out) and it's already blow by, so I'm planning to switch to D17.
Can I use the manual tranny of D15 since tranny of D17 here in dubai are all matic.

Here's my engine bay, it's like nothing happen.

And here's the problem.

Thats your engine code?....i might be wrong but your engine looks a lot like a d17...but to your question if a d15 tranny will fit:

i dont think so, it wont fit, regardless if it is automatic or not. You will have to go with a D17 engine and/or tranny (doesnt matter if 5 speed or automatic) but as long as they are d17

Wow, it must get insanely hot for the piping to just rip like that.

As far as I know, the transmission won't fit properly, but I may be wrong. It's not as if I've seen a Dubai D15Y3. It does look strikingly similar (with exception to that intake setup) to the D17 we have over here, so you may be in luck. If you could get some up-close pictures of the drivetrain, transmission, and subframe, from both topside and underneath, we may be able to compare the two.

Got to admit, that's pretty cool. Although it sucks that the car has a smaller engine, it's neat to see that there actually was a different engine available out there.

If you get a chance, get some pictures of the transmission and subframe components. We might be able to help you out if you can supply those.

thanks toyomatt84, i will try to post a pics soon.

I have a friend working in Honda, a mechanic, talked to him few hours ago he said that the mounting is similar and I can use a d17 block but VTEc will not engage of course but if I can get a M/T ECU and harness much better. the problem is all VTI here are all matic. BTW all D17 in middle east are having Vtec bulit.

I found this here : http://www.drivearabia.com/honda/hondacivic01.html

Honda's highly practical Civic rolled into 2001 with an all-new design, and got a facelift in 2004 with a slightly new look. Honda Civic is an icon. The Civic sedan is among one of the Middle East's best-selling compacts. Civics are notable for their excellent fuel economy and sporty handling. Front-seat comfort is superb by any measure. The Honda Civic line is composed of a family of diverse models. Up-level Civics come with powerful VTEC engines that provide brisk acceleration. The Type-R hatchback is the flagship performance model. All Civics are fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly.

The Honda Civic four-door sedan comes with a variety of engines. All of them are 4-cylinder 16-valve units and can be had with a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. The engines and trims levels include a 1.5-liter 110 hp LXi and EXi and 1.7-liter 130 hp VTEC VTi. The very rare special order SiR sedan offered in the previous generation was dropped for 2001. The Type-R sports hatchback comes only with a 2.0-liter 200 hp VTEC engine and a six-speed manual.

The basic LXi comes standard with a 110 hp engine, air conditioning, AM/FM/CD stereo system, power steering, digital clock and trunk lamp, and a manual gearbox. It also gets 14-inch wheels, cloth interior and full wheel caps. The EXi trim adds power windows, power door mirrors, power steering and automatic gearbox. The VTi trim adds the more powerful 130 hp engine, cruise control, body color side mouldings, keyless entry and front airbags. The expensive Type-R 3-door hatchback comes with a 200 hp engine, six-speed manual, 17-inch wheels, sports seats, sports suspension and ABS. From 2004, all models got a standard CD player.

Hey the engine that i got is a USDM probably the same engine that you have in US, a DX/LX model.
WHY??? because it's cheap, really..the D15Y2 will cost me AED3000.00, while D17A1 is only AED2500.00. Honda civics engines here are all made in japan even the car itself.

BTW. My car is working again
