Door Trim Molding Removal

Door Trim Molding Removal
Greetings all,
Does anyone know how to remove the door trim molding below the window on the outside of the door. I'm tired of looking at the chrome underneath the chipped black material. I have heard of people just painting them with rustoleum but I don't know if I want to do that. At the dealership the replacement molding is a little over $40 each.
Thanks

You have to becareful when you remove these. I had the same prob. and i hated the chrome underneath the shitty chipped black color. There are like clips that clips onto the back side of the door. When you remove them, pop them out one by one and be sure not to try and force it out (cuz they bend very easily). I had one door just pop off cuz it was only held on by 1 clip...but when i tried the other side it had like 5 clips on and i bent it a lil. Take your time and you'll be fine. BTW i painted mine with plastidip and it looks great and it holds up.

Remove the mirror. (Remove the tweeter/cover, the nuts, and the mirror.)
Pull the trim piece up-and-away from the door. If you have a coupe, it's going to be tucked under the sash trim a bit, but it's not big deal.
Start from the front of the door (closest to where the mirror was) and slowly pull it up and out. If you have a sedan, start from the opposite end.
Replace any broken clips and install in reverse order of removal.
