Default Disable ABS and DRL's

Firstly the DRL's. I read in a couple places that I could pull a fuse to disable my DRL's? Now that I have fog lights I'd like to manually use them as my DRL's. Could someone tell me where the fuse is located please? Thanks.

Secondly, I'd like to disable my ABS. I'm aware of the legal issues and probably insurance issues too (I'm sure that if I got into an accident with the ABS disabled, the insurance wouldn't pay up) so it would be temporary. I'd just like to test this winter because last winter it gave me a TON of issues and I just want to be sure it's the ABS system by driving with it off and on. I noticed an ABS fuse in my fuse box under the hood and was wondering if that's the one to pull.

Thanks!

Yes, the under-hood fuse for the ABS will eliminate that motor from running... but you'll probably have brake force issues. The true way to eliminate ABS, would be to invest in some DX or LX brake lines (non-ABS) for the front two brakes, and also the proportioning valve.

Hmm ok. Since it's just a temp thing I'll just pull the fuse for my tests and put it back in later. Thank you.

Now just need an answer for the DRL's if anyone knows

please, don't use your fog lights as DRLs, they create glare and are totally ineffective for visibility unless you're driving at dusk or dawn. Believe me, everybody can see you just fine. wasting gasoline too....

Well DRL's are a legal requirement here in Canada so something on my car is gonna be my DRL's no matter what, and during the day they aren't nearly bright enough to blind anyone. I just wanted to use them at my DRL's because it looks much nicer... that's all.

Well if you're in Canada, then it's different. Though I still don't like the idea of using fog lights as a DRL since they create glare if used during good visibility.

Depends on what province you're in, NS and the Yukon require them, other than that I don't think they're required.

It's Canada wide, not a provincial thing.

They say that, and I know it applys to all new vehicles, but they also just made it law in NS about a year ago, I remember it being on the news. I don't have DRLs on my Tacoma (US model, didn't come with them and probably wasn't imported properly) and I've never been stopped or questioned about it in NB, but if I was going to NS I'd definitely turn the parking lots on before I crossed the border.

NS has lots of new crazy laws lately; Got to give bicyclist 1 m of space when passing(impossible on twisty roads), Cannot have trailer hitch reciever ( the part witrh the ball ) on your truck/car unless your towing a trailer/ going to tow a trailer, you have to give busses right of way when they are entering back into traffic, No cell phone while driving law. and much more.

DRL's are requried here in Newfoundland too, all new cars/trucks must have them, if your car is older its fine. Although in the same breathe i know of many cars that have them disabled, the Police here do not enforce that law at all, ive never once heard of anyone being ticketed for not having DRL's
NL has some strange laws here too.
No Cell phones, PDA, Laptops of anykind can be used while driving
Must yeild to Busses
HID Lights are Illegal unless they came installed or as an option from the factory(basically any Kits put into reflectors housings will get you a ticket)
No Tint on the windsheild or front Side windows PERIOD.
And the latest addition, which IMO is a good one, Its now Illegal to Smoke in any vechile with anyone under the age of 16, Doing so can result in a $1000 fine and up to 2 demerit points.

Two of my friends have gotten tickets for not having DRL's here in QC. There's no way that I'd drive without them here, it's a cop magnet.

It's Quebec, all I've ever heard are horror stories.

Actually this is now legal in NS now, a law student took it to court and won, they just dont advertise it lol.

I got in a roadblock driving to work and the military police noticed my 'fog lights' werent on and its illegal to drive without some sort of DRL lighting, even though the drls were on. funny. also he tried to say my inspection was good until the end of this month, when it runs out next month ...
