I have a 2001 Honda Civic Ex and my engine recently came on. I plugged in a diagnostic machine and the code read "EVAP Emissions Control System Leak Detected (Control Canister System)". What is this and how do I fix this this issue?

Nevermind.....I fixed it. It was a loose gas cap. Why couldn't the diagnostics just say that????

There is more than one item on the gas tank that can leak pressure so there is no way to say its the GAS CAP, but, loose caps are the number one problem. You have to have it click three times or more when you tighten it down. If you ever have to replace it, only use a new OEM cap also.

Just like some I also have the P1457 code but of course opening the gas cap and tightening the cap doesnt clear message. But when opening cap I do have pressure. Any clue what next?

I've never personally seen a P1457 caused by a loose or missing fuel cap. A loose fuel cap will trigger a P1456.

P1457 is usually caused by a problem with the EVAP canister vent shut-off valve or, more commonly on '01+ Civics and '02+ CR-Vs, the EVAP 2-way bypass valve.

Completely agree with this post... a P1457 is for the canister side of the EVAP system and P1456 is for the tank side. Did the check engine light go off after the cap was tightened or did you clear the code?

Well cleared the message and now that the weather outside has warmed up the message has not come back on. So do you think it has to do with the cold weather and just leave it alone or there is some thing else I need to do? My next question is what could cause the A/C and the Heater not to work while not in motion. When in park or stopped neither work.
