Default oil change w/o lifting

Has anyone tried to change oil in a civic 2005 without lifting it any?
I'm not very large. I'll probably fit.

Lol. There's an old method that some people used for their cars before: by driving their car partly up a sidewalk so that two wheels are up the sidewalk and the other two wheels are still on the street. This gives you more room to get under the car. Ghetto method; but, it's been done.

go get some plastic ramps from autozone. They dont take up much space at all.

those plastic ramps are awsome i have them only thing is they are effing hard to get on to with a manual car. works ALOT easier if the cars auto but we had to basically push it onto the ramp since we were having a helluva time.

lol i don't think you can get under the civic without using a lift or the plastic ramps they posted, i only lifted my car couple inches to do my oil change, i'm not really that big either and i can barley fit in there (stock suspension btw..) its almost more comfortable if u use the ramp...the ghetto sidewalk thing sounds like a good idea too lol, but you might mess up your bumper xD

I used to be able to do it with my old Sentra. The Sentra oil filter was easy enough to reach from behind the engine from the top. I am not sure how thin you are but I find the Civic is too low and the oil filter is not easy to get too without lifting.

the ramps are good and ive seen off the curb thing many times but ramps would be easy just make sure to put blocks behind the back wheels

Its much safer to still block the wheels, Parking breaks can fail, Everytime i jack up my car, the front is supported on stands, and park brake is on and the rear wheels are blocked.
Id rather be safe then be pinned under a 2000 pound car.

you can use these ramps. they sit pretty low and gives just enough clearance to remove the filter

ramps are the easiest way to go, i got a set of metal ones myself with a dip. just stick some wood blocks behind ur wheels and you're safe from rollin back

option 1: jack your car up and set it on jack stands.
option 2: get a ramp
option 3: get an oil filter relocation kit..but then again you need to jack your up or somehow get underneath to drain the oil pan
option 4: drive it up a curb
option 5: take it to jiffylube, honda and/or anyplace that changes oil

theres alot of options

Best bet is to go to your local auto parts place and get a small jack (2-3 ton), they are sold with their own little carrying case for like $40. Then get a set of jack stands.

This way, you will be able to have the car suspended in the air, which will be good if you ever want to do anything that involves taking your wheels off (like swapping wheels, brakes, suspension, etc).

Using ramps wont allow for this..

Yes, I have a small 3000lbs and a larger 5000lbs jack in addition to the car's built in crappy twist jack.

Should I get both a pair of jack stands and a pair of ramps or just one set?

you really only need ramps or jack stands not both.

personally i prefer jack stands. but then again my civic is to low to drive up on ramps.
