I can't get the trunk open with either of my keys. It's been getting harder and harder to open the trunk, now it's stuck all together. The latch thing next to the driver's seat does nothing. I'm not sure it ever worked. Is the problem with the lock itself, or with the latch mechanism? I'm over taking my car to the dealer. The latch looks like it's pretty easy to replace. I just don't want to replace the latch if that's not the problem. I don't have a key fob, either. Thank you for your help and advice.

You should be able to access the trunk via the key lock on the rear hat-shelf. That should at least enable you to try to get the trunk open to work on that faulty trunk latch.

If the problem got progressively worse, it leads me to believe the locking mechanism has just seized. If you do get it open with NDNV's advice, try lubricating the mechanism and actuate it a few times to work in the lube.
