Is it a cam sensor or catalytic converter? HELP PLS
Hey guys...I have a 2001 Honda Civic DX and really don't know much about cars. The car has almost 94,000 miles and has recently started acting up. I was going about 80 mph coming from JAX (about 200 miles away). All of a sudden the car started decelerating rapidly and engine light came on. Still had my foot on the gas but it wouldn't increase speed, continued to decelerate. Pulled over and shut it off. Restarted car and it started back up. Drove the rest of the way home (about 130 miles) at about 60mph. Car seemed to be running fine. When I made into town, engine light when off on its own.
Took it about 2 days later to get a diagnostic run on it and they said it could be a cam sensor or a cylinder head. They said to drive it until engine light came back on. About a week later, again driving from JAX, same thing happened. Took it right to the dealership this time. Told me it was a bad cam sensor. Ended up getting that replaced in addition to a timing belt (since the miles we're up there). Next day, engine light came back on. The car didn't act up like it did before, just the light came on. Now they say it's a catalytic converter...
Don't know what the differnce is between the two (cat. converter and cam sensor) and I feel ripped off..Please shed some light on what could be wrong with my car!

the cam position sensor determines the position of the cam shaft, the catalytic converter is for emissions.
2 unrelated things.
Its not likely that both would go simultaneously, but I could see it happening.
Go to a different shop and get another opinion.
