2002 Civic LX, No Air/Heat

Re: 2002 Civic LX, No Air/Heat
2001 - 2004, though? That's a bit strange. It should be 2001 - 2005.
Anyhow, the Helm's is the way to go. Reading the back of it today, it's actually published by Honda MoCo.

Re: 2002 Civic LX, No Air/Heat
Ok, I've narrowed the problem down to the ground wire. I hooked up a jumper wire to the #2 terminal wire (mine is actually green/black) on the blower motor connector and grounded the other end. Turned the ignition to On II and the blower motor ran like a champ. The next step is to figure out what's wrong with the ground wire correct? I checked the continuity between the No. 2 terminal of the power transistor 4P connector and body ground and did not get any continuity. I can't tell where that wire (which I believe is blue/yellow) goes to. Any suggestions on what to do next?

Re: 2002 Civic LX, No Air/Heat
Have you checked for HVAC DTC's as suggested?
What about testing the Heater Control Panel as suggested?
If after completing each of the troubleshooting steps that I have previously listed (primarily testing the Heater Control Panel) it still doesn't work, then you likely need to replace the Heater Control Panel, or the power transistor is bad and needs to be fixed or replaced. If the HCP and PT are good, then it's a bad ground or open wire and you'll need to find it and repair it.
I've pretty much walked you through this already. I apologize if it sounds like I'm being short with you, but there's really no other suggestions that I can make. . . other than buying a Helm's manual.

What about checking for HVAC DTC's? You can do this by following this DIY from the FAQ's
Quote:
Retrieve HVAC DTC's: Link
If there are no codes, and the fuse is okay, try the following.
Wire side of female terminals
1. Check the #14 (10 amp) fuse in the under-dash fuse box.
Is the fuse okay?
Yes - Go to step 2
No - Replace the fuse and recheck.
2. Disconnect heater control panel connector A. (14-Pin)
3. Turn the ignition switch ON (II)
4. Measure the voltage between terminal #14 and a ground.
Is there battery voltage?
Yes - Go to step 5
No - Repair open in the wire between the #14 fuse in the under-dash fuse box and the heater control panel.
5. Turn the ignition OFF.
6. Check for continuity between terminal #13 and a ground.
Is there continuity?
Yes - Check for loose wires or poor connections at the heater control panel connector A. If the connections are good, swap the heater control panel with another one and recheck. If the problem goes away with a different control panel, keep it.
No - Check for an open in the wire between the heater control panel and body ground. If the wire is okay, check for a poor ground at G502.

Re: 2002 Civic LX, No Air/Heat
No, I haven't tested the Heater Control Panel yet because I was hoping to avoid taking apart the middle console. It looks like there's no other choice at this point. I will do those steps sometime in the next week and go from there. Thanks for the help, it's much appreciated.

Re: 2002 Civic LX, No Air/Heat
I was looking under the driver side dash under the steering wheel and I saw this. Is this of any concern? What is it and should it be connected to anything?

Re: 2002 Civic LX, No Air/Heat
Well, I finally fixed the problem. After all the testing, I found the issue to be with the blower motor transistor. I went and bought a new one at the local Advanced Auto Parts store for $50 and hooked it up and it works beautifully now. It's possible that the fix that Tonee posted may fix the original part but I haven't tried it. I will probably do it though because if it works, that saves me $50! Thank you everyone for you help. If anyone knows that that part is I posted a picture of a few hours ago and if it's supposed to be connected to anything, please let me know.
Thanks a lot,
Aaron

Oasis4U2NV,
The link I posted was the first thing I tried and I'm pretty sure that you are in the same situation I was. The fix ended up being less than 3$ for me . Let me know how everything goes!
