Default immobilizer chip key waterproof?

I go to the beach to bodyboard every so often and my leash has a pocket for a car key. Will the chip inside the key will get damaged if water gets in it.

Just get your self a watertight bag and put your goodies in there. You can order the really good ones from gun magazines/sites, or I'm sure ziplock has something outthere that can keep out water.
