04 Civic VP 5 speed to HX Trans

So I got a fantastic deal on a 04 VP because it needs a transmission. A friend has a low mileage 04 HX 5 speed trans for cheap. Will they be completely compatible? Does anyone think I might just wring out a few more MPGs? Thanks in advance!

Can you swap the transmission in? Yes.
Will you gain much in fuel economy? Possible minor gains, due to the lower FD.
