The OEM boot will work just fine. Honestly, replacing that stock boot is a pain the butt, i did mine and it looks fine now, but i was definitely not happy about doing it haha.
Also, the skunk2 is great, but if you like a round style ****, you can get a Type-R **** on eBay for a pretty decent price and the weight isnt too bad. Its what i use and i love the way it feels

Re: 02 civic shift ****
The problem with the OEM boot is the locking collar on it. Take away the OEM shift **** and you're left with a .75" plastic collar attached to .. nothing.
You can buy an aluminum shift boot collar and replace the plastic one, or replace the boot all together.
As for the S2 shift ****; I was using one for a number of years. It was always HOT in the summer and COLD in the winter. I have since changed my **** to something different and couldn't be happier. (because it isn't made of metal)
