Hello everyone I'm new to this site..well I just bought my 2001 civic DX 5 speed and it had tranny issues when I bought it..well 1-3 rd it shifts fine 4th I was able to hold it in gear the first day I got it but now its pops out and grinds if u hold it..5th it seems soon as u put it in gear it grinds getting in gear with the clutch held driven..same as 4 th it pops out and grinds if u hold it...Reverse is hard to get in and out of gear..but it works fine...my question is what's going on with my tranny and is it savable? When im rolling down hill and put it in 4th it stays in gear and seams to have the gear until I give it gas to make it pop..5 th seams to be there too but its like it hits another gear and make a bad clunking noise and pops out.....what's going on with my tranny...?

Chances are there's no fluid in it. 5th is furthers out and with no or low fluid it will start popping out. If you take it apart I think you'll find the gears are now a purplish blue color. I'd say you're better off looking for a used replacement transmission as what you have is going to need more in parts than it's worth.
