Timeline: Drummerboy (NO 56K!) *3 YEAR UPDATE PG. 5!*
****MASSIVE 3 YEAR UPDATE ON PAGE 5!****
i've been meaning to do one of these for a really long time, but kept putting it off since just about all of my older pics were from disposable cameras. so, they suck.
but, i decided to scan them anyway, and finally put this thing together. i just put some new parts on this afternoon, so no time like the present.
i bought the car (w/bra!) in spring of '99, and started fooling around with it in '01. basic stuff, like a strut bar, SRI, and axle-back. that winter, it got hit by a z71 at low speed while it was parked during a huge snowstorm. this is where the pics start.
i drove it around like this till the following spring of '02, when it got some bodywork and paint.
i had my new wheels waiting, and the day i got it back, they went on. i also replaced the smashed headlight bits with a pair of projectors and clear corners.
some time that year, realizing that my car was a 4x4, i lowered it on a set of pro-kit springs. integra rates, so the front wasn't awesome. my painted lip was chipping too, so i blasted the rest of the paint off of it.
the car pretty much stayed like that for the rest of '02.
then in the early spring of '03, i had a b16a installed and didn't tell anybody. there aren't any motor pics, cause i had mad secretz.
this pic is especially unflattering.
i swapped out the springs for sleeves, and we installed some ITR cams at some point after those pics.
while the car was in storage that winter, i made some "amber" corners out of an extra pair of clears i had, and installed my EK sideskirts. i ordered up a CF spoon lip in february, hoping that it'd get here sometime in the spring, but the shop i ordered it from lost it TWICE. so when i took it out for '04, it looked like this.
the lip finally showed up in SEPTEMBER, but i was heading out for a long tour, and just put the car away again without it. the shop gave it to me for pretty much half price for my troubles. next year, i guess.
while it was away i found a used CF duckbill, so for spring '05, i brought it out like this.
i'd also been gathering up parts for a custom turbo kit over the winter, so we put that together shortly after. log mani, turbonetics t3/t4 50trim, 2.5" dp, DSM BOV, JRC 8" IC, etc.
i only got to dyno the car while running my first basemap, and made 233 whp and 150wtq at 8psi. we got it running much better shortly after with the wideband, but no dyno numbers since!
that summer, i put a CF hood on, and slowly cooked my ringlands, so in the fall we put forged rods and pistons in, and i limped it into storage for the winter.
in '06, it was on the wideband as it was rolling out of the garage, and we street tuned it for 12psi with my new 3bar map. ooooh!
it looked like this.
then Stan@civiccentral.ca noticed my ugly DIY corner lights, and sponsored me some shiny new ones! THANKS STAN!!
my pics still suck.
before:
after:
we put my 3" exhaust and mud flaps on at some point in there too.
so, i ended up getting the car repainted in the fall, and had some problems with the painter/bodyman. without getting into it too much, i was really close to removing all the performance parts, throwing a 1.5l back in it, and selling the car. i shopped around for the winter while the car was back in the garage, but didn't find what i was looking for.
so, i decided to keep it, and make it look and perform the way i'd been picturing for quite a while. basically, just clean it up and hit 350 whp.
so, i got busy again this spring.
poor lip... you gotta go.
it's not perfect, but it'll do.
devan and eddie did a great job mocking up the new manifold.
back to the car to mock up the WG flange and elbow...
new clutch finally. 2 summers of boost+stock clutch=wtf was i thinking?
ACT XTSS and Streelite will do nicely.
back together and running with my ATP GT28RS, 3" turbo-back, and new TiAL BOV. stock headlights and si/vx lip (for now).
we street tuned it for now @13.5psi, and it's alot of fun. i'll hopefully get a dyno tune sometime this month, and i should hit my hp goal then.
in the mean time, i finally got a chance to put my new wheels and lip on.
been sitting on these for months now, and i'm really happy with the end result!
from today...
so that's it!
might put my CF hood back on...
more to come, i guess!
i love this little car.
