Default Rubbing compound, polishing compound, and wax...OH MY!!!

K

I tried some rubbing compound on some scratches and ended up scuffing up my roof. So I went to get some polishing compound to try and get those scuff marks out, and that didn't work at all. I then tried some wax and it worked a little, but you can still see the scuff marks. Any way I can get rid of these marks on my roof now? I have a black car, so it is kinda noticable...well at least to me. How much do you think a shop would charge to buff them out? I don't want to ruin the paint any more than I already have. Also is there any way around scratches besides sanding and repainting an entire panel? I tried the compounds, but they just don't do the trick. Thanks for any help.

Try Scratch-X

Edit- If you've tried that then go to Napa er something and buy a fine-medium cut cleaner and try to polish them out. Be careful with the cleaners; if used incorrectly you can do additional damage to your car.

You need some 3M Finesse-it, its kinda expensive though. I would take it to a local detailer and have them do it for you. I think the Finesse-it is like 20 bux for a bottle and really works best if used w/ a polisher anyways. A local detailer should be able to do it for you for around 20 bux. You'll most likely love the way the spot comes out so much that you'll have the whole car done. I used to detail cars and thats what usually would end up happening.
