Default The Real Old School - OG Japanese Muscle

Silverlake street life, holmes! Hah! I just had to say it.

Anyways, here are pictures of my latest old school project. I rolled up with it at the Eibach meet 5.20.07. As usual fashion, I welcome both positive and constructive criticisms.

So what car is it?

So here's the specs list since you guys figured it out:

Engine
13b D-Bridgeport; doweled, pinned rotors, FD corner seals, 3mm apex seals
Weber 51 IDA downdraft
dual MSD 6AL ignition boxes
dual MSD blaster coils
S4 alternator w/ dual pulleys
Racing Beat true dual header
dual resonated 2.5" exhaust piping into single 3" exit w/ Magnaflow exhaust
10 gallon fuel cell
Holley Blue fuel pump w/ Holley fuel filter
fpr
all new a/n fuel lines and a/n oil cooler lines
GSL-SE oil cooler
3 row copper radiator
Auto to manual conversion 5 speed
aluminum flywheel w/ new clutch

Suspension
Rear: Celica Supra complete rear end w/ LSD 4x114.3 lug conversion w/ lowering blocks (yes, you lower old school cars w/ leaf springs by adding blocks to them)
Rear disc brakes from Celica Supra as well
Front: QA1 coilovers using GSL-SE complete suspension and brakes 4x114.3 conversion
15x8 Sportmax with 205 fronts & 225 rears for tires

Interior
Pretty much stock w/ Autometer gauges and Mazda t-shirts used as seat covers. During Christmas time however, I switched to X-mas themed seat covers. LOL

Exterior
STOCK OG paint
80s Cressida mirrors

Future restoration plans include:
Newer bushings
5x114.3 conversion
16x10 rear & 15x8 fronts
Repaint of OG paint
Restored interior
13b monster bridge w/ GT42r aiming for 500hp w/ alky/meth; the complete works
And some more custom fabrication stuff.

We have a winner.

It's a '74 so it's smog exempt. My uncle and some of family relatives and friends have been building these types of old schools ever since then; from Skylines, RX2s RX3s, Celicas, etc. I realized that this is much more gratifying to drive than any type of Honda, here in SoCal at least, since almost all of modified Hondas are bound to thievery and stringent smog checks. At least w/ '75 and below cars, they're smog exempt here in CA. Also I know I didn't have a peace of mind leaving my Hondas and Acuras even couple years back in the street. It was always garaged parked, but I couldn't drive it to the local movie theater, supermarket, etc. without being worried. You will always hear about someone's homie's Honda or Acura that got stolen and I'm not down to be part of that. My Integra's been stock for more than two years now and I couldn't be any happier.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that invest (spend) your $$$ in old schools as well. Modding these types of cars are much challenging though since parts are hard to find and require custom fabrication but I'm lovin' it.

clean RX4...but uhh...needs some better wheels that suit the era/car. those sportmax rims look ok...but too generic for the car.

Weird how the older Japanese cars kinda resembled the American cars in exterior.

Thanks for the commentary fellas. I'm just rolling with the Sportmax since I got them for a nice deal, brand new with tires. 0 offset and 8" wide was good enough for now. Later on, I will switch to 5 lug w/ 16x10 rear and 15x8 setup.

I was also thinking of doing LS7 swap, but since these types of cars are 'rare' I will stick to a future 13b monster bridgeport build with a gt42r; the works basically. Hoping to net around 500 rwhp on 91 pump w/ alky/meth. I currently have a d-bridge on it w/ carb'd Weber downdraft ITBs, suspension, and other miscellaneous.

That's what's so great about it. People usually mistake it for some sort of Mustang or Chevy. I just smile and tell them what's up
