i have to admit, there are a LOT of great indie film makers out there. what i have yet to see is a video with great sound recordings and sound design.

i am a sound engineer and so i put heavy emphasis on that. i don't want to sound harsh, but about 99% of the videos i see have crappy car recordings. i can't feel connected to the cars in the videos because i can't hear them.

that said, i am currently in the process of starting my production company. my main objective is to provide film makers with professional audio recordings of any motorsport event.

as of now i am following a team that will going to the 24 hours at daytona at the end of this month (january). we've captured over 270gb of footage and sounds in just the past two days. we have a lot more footage coming our way.

the video will likely show up on the speed channel and i'll post it up here when it's done.

I agree with you on that. Half of any great film is great audio. I think a lot of guys use primarily on-camera audio systems or cheap wireless rigs.

I do have several audio capture methods like Marantz drives and shure mics. Simple but certainly gives that increase in quality. My past two years have been spent producing cinematic wedding videos where audio is golden, so I'm with you 100%. Synchronization definitely requires more setup and pre-shot planning, so I assume that may defeat some of these videos that are more compilations than purpose shot films.

we actually got sponsored by gopro and they sent us 10 of their cameras for testing. the car we mounted it on went 180mph down the back straight and it stayed on! amazing stuff...
