Default Painters tape is this stuff safe for a new paint job?

I getting my car painted back home by a friend and then Im driving back across country from VA to NM and I dont want any chips. I have found a post about this blue painters tape that I can get at Home Depot. I want something that isnt gonna screw up my new paint job and protect my car from chips and stuff on the long drive back out here. So post up your experiences about this tape and if its gonna serve its purpose for what Im gonna use it for. Also post up some pics of your cars with this stuff in use!! TIA

I wondered the same thing. But delsolsir used some on his bumper for a long trip to LA about 2 days after his bumper was painted, and we didn't have any problems at all pulling it off.

It is safe to use on the car with a fresh paint job. The tape film isn't too sticky to ruin the new paint

Painters Blue Tape may cost a lot, but it is sure worth it. Not a single chip on my JDM ITR Front End when I took my car to LA from the Bay. It wont hurt your paint after its been freshly painted, not even if you have a shitty one-stage paint job.

We used it on my moms Armada all the way to Michigan and it came right off no problem. Leaves no residue either.

it will soak up in rain...but it will still remain on the car and not fall off hahah

.... but when you apply... remember how hte wind will strike the bumper... make it so the tape wont fly off... so the hood should end with some vertical tape... and the bumper should end with some horizontal tape... i used it for a 7 hour drive with no problem.... then coming home i got lazy and didnt apply as much... i could see rock chips ...so i can tell it works... and my lip got OWNED hahah

here is the first try

Yeah cant wait to get the old hatch painted. I hope it turns out good. How many rolls of that tape do I need to get to cover my car up pretty good?

Just drive the damn car. Its only a Civic. You tape up your whole front end and yet, you left a cut out to floss your "Mugen" badge on your lip.

What kind of help did your post provide? Why did you even post just to say something dumb?

i agree, i think its kinda stupid. Yes i understand you spent a **** load of money on a paint job and want it to look nice, but if your that up tite about it don't even driver the fuckn thing.

Now for some insite. I use the stuff to tape off my lights at HPDE events and it fine.

I made the mistake of using regular masking tape for the number on my car (since my car is blue the blue painters tape wont work for number). And well i left the normal masking tape on the car for two days with alot of sun light. Well lets just say on my passenger door i now have 530 on the car, from the sticky residue ****. OO well no big deal, it will be covered with a number plate soon

My post did give you some help. I told you to just drive your car down. Its not something dumb, and rather hilarious what you people will do over a car. I'm just pointing out how stupid it is and telling you to just drive it down.

Sorry rich guy, 4,000 is a lot of money to some of us. We're not so lucky as to be trashing our paint jobs every chance we get.

I dont care if its a Honda or a Hyundai...Paint jobs aren't cheap and preserving new paint is important.

Why not just drive without the bumper on....as long as you have turn signals the cops typically won't give you any ticket .

Or you could roll GHETTO and tape the **** out of your car .

Well I am just driving the car over to VA with a old beat up paint job and then when I drive it back its gonna be nice and new. If you want to pay for my paint job Ill let you and then I wont care if it gets chipped. On the other hand shut the **** up cause you aint providing anything worthwhile!
