Default Dyno day, what do you think of the numbers?

I guess its not totally the shops fault but the stock map sensor limits my boost to 10psi, kinda shitty because now i have to not only get a new one but pay for another tune . But what do you guys think about 248 whp at 10 psi? My intercooler isn't large enough and we actually saw about a 10-12 hp drop between runs...and it was cold as a mother out.
Setup is a b18c1:
CP pistons 9:1 comp. with eagle ESP rods
t3/t4 60 trim turbo
rc 650cc's
ITR intake manifold
Skunk 2 turbo cams

Thats me...disappointed as i had hoped to get over 300, but it was cold enough to make me wear my girls small pink sweater

that's low. I've seen plenty of bone stock b18c1 with the same t3/t4 60 trim making 330whp at 10psi.

What EMS are you running anyways?

I don't see any form of fan blowing air into your intercooler or at the car.... might help bring the numbers up....

yeah there was one there during the runs though....as for stock b18c1's putting down that much power....wouldnt the lower comp. pistons kinda lower my numbers....which would just mean i need more boost to get to where they are?

/\/\ Yes.

I think your numbers are about right IMO 10psi. You went from about 130-140whp to 248whp thats over a 100whp gain. I think you may be down a little with that set up I would expect to see 260-270whp just my opinion. I'm sure someone will chime in and argue against me What are you using to Tune it with?

No kidding. Common sense should tell anyone you aren't going to make **** for power at 10 psi with 9:1 CR pistons. Try 20 psi and report back to us...

wow, now thats tough love....well as this is my first build i was not really sure what to expect...i know that i need more boost to get to where i want to be, i was just wondering if what i am making right now is reasonable for my setup.....how much boost can a stock head take, being in the "safe daily driver" mode

this isn't the f/i section, but i'll chime in.

you should be making a lot more power than that. my stock gsr made 278@9psi. stock from oil pan to valve cover.

personally i'd ditch the turbo cams for some itr cams. i would say your stock map sensor should be ok for 10psi (they're suppose to go 14psi).

who is tuning your car? if you're in BC, you should come down to bellingham and have c-speed tune it. that's where i went.

btw, numbers on a dyno dynamics usually read a bit lower than dynojets.

i wouldn't worry about the head just yet. but the sleeves. You can run plenty of boost on that car. But its all going to come down to how good the tune is on the car.

WHAT ARE YOU USING TO TUNE IT WITH!?!?!?

stock head can handle higher boost but i would recomend upgrading or refreshing your valve springs! !

stock head was rebuilt with OEM parts, but does 248whp really seem low even though i am running low compression pistons? Its tuned with hondata s300...i am in Vancouver but the car is and will stay in Houston

well you are going to have to compensate for the low CR pistons. if you had the stock 10:1 CR pistons then you would probably be around the 300whp mark, but the tune is what matters, maybe the tune you have isn't that great??

there's tony1 and st00pid in texas, find them and they'll help you make more power conservatively.

well my real worry is the piston fitment...apparently there is a bit of piston slap...i didn't build the engine but i did pay a damn large amount to have it done right. the prob is i cant afford to get it sleeved, so i am afraid i am stuck until the motor gives out.....i just was not sure how the numbers looked.....

Also i am wondering about my IC and exhaust...its only a 2.25" exhaust...do you think a 3" would help much, also my IC is small and i know i need a larger one, which should drop the temp and help abit.

here are the other two dyno sheets....anything strange looking about them?

Well your exhaust is definately the first thing to go. That 2.25 piping is not forgiving on FI, swap out for a 3" and you'll notice the differences. What size DP are you running right now?

Any pictures of your intercooler? Unless it's rediculously small, i wouldn't worry about that part or hope to get solid #s from changing to a bigger one.

Get a 3bar, up the boost, go retune with the 3" DP/exhaust, and let us know.

yeah what size is your ic exactly? from the picture it looks ok. i only ran a 26x6x3.5

you definitely need a larger exhaust.

yeah, the numbers seem a little bit low. the difference between 10:1 and 9:1 isnt going to make that much of a difference. i just dont see how boosting 10lbs on 10:1 compression is going to make THAT much more than boosting 10lbs on 9:1.

whats with the power curve? the peak power seems a little low as well.

my vote is for the intercooler, the piping, and the exhaust. those are all choking your power terribly. a 2.25in exhaust is limiting even to b18c with bolt-ons....i cant even imagine how much its holding back your motor.

i made 200 whp / 200 wtq @ 8 psi on my bone stock LS, with Greddy turbo parts...including the 2" downpipe, and 2.25" exhaust.

so I dunno, it could be the dyno numbers themselves. you cant compare different dyno models to others. even the same dynojets will give funky results between tunnners. get another car on that same dyno as ur car, and see what numbers they spit out.

well the shop told me that the dyno dynamics dyno's typically run 17% lower than say a dyno jet....i have heard this from other people too but i dont know how true it is...if it is than its at about 290whp....i mean the car runs like a bat outa hell..more power is just going to spin the tires thatmuch faster, but for what i shelled out for the motor i would like to get the most outa it.

Ditch the exhaust. Bigger intercooler (even though it doesnt look very small in the pic) and turn the boost upto 18-20lbs and make around 400whp.

The reason i mentioned the inter cooler is because we actually saw a 10-12 hp drop between close runs.
