Default 93 Del Sol Si Mirror Delete?

I want to do away with both the side mirrors from my Del sol. Not only do i find them ugly but this would help me get better MPG as well as become more aero-dynamic. I will replace them with mirrors on the inside of the vehicle instead so i can still see behind me on both sides of the car. Even though its not legally required to me its a safety thing. I plan to compliment this with a "wink" type rear view as-well.

So onto my question how do i go about removing the old mirrors. Then how do i fill in the holes without having to repaint the car. Thoughts questions and comments are appreciated.

I have already looked into the legality of it and here in Pennsylvania it is indeed legal to do away with your side view mirrors.
\/ THE LAW \/
"§ 4534. Rearview mirrors. No person shall operate a motor vehicle or combination on a highway unless the vehicle or combination is equipped with at least one mirror, or similar device, which provides the driver an unobstructed view of the highway to the rear of the vehicle or combination. This section shall not apply to any special mobile equipment, commercial implement of husbandry or implement of husbandry that is not so equipped by the original manufacturer. (June 23, 1982, P.L.605, No.171, eff. imd.; Dec. 18, 1992, P.L.1411, No.174, eff. 60 days)"

For what? I have seen plenty of people do it, but usually to Civic VX or HX. Never seen it on a Sol though. Cant even find a picture of anyone who has attempted it anywhere. I know i can get the mirror off, but i am just looking for creative/Clever ways to plug the holes i will have created.... That the hard part. Its all perfectly legal.

In fact many states share this law including Texas, Alabama, Illinois, Indiana, Hawaii, Idaho, Delaware, Florida, and Pennsylvania... just to name a few

Trust me i have done my homework and have the paperwork to prove it...

Federal law

Each passenger car shall have an inside rear view mirror of unit
magnification.

S5.1.1

horizontal angle measured from the projected eye point of at least
20 degrees, and a sufficient vertical angle to provide a view of a level road surface extending to the
horizon beginning at a point not greater than 61 m to the rear of the
vehicle when the vehicle is occupied by the driver and four passengers or the designated occupant
capacity, if less, based on an average occupant weight of 68 kg. The line of sight may
be partially obscured by seated occupants or by head restraints. The location of the
driver's eye reference points shall be those established in Motor Vehicle Safety
Standard No. 104 (§571.104) or a nominal location appropriate for any 95th percentile
male driver

S5.1.2
Mounting
. The mirror mounting shall provide a stable support for the mirror,
and shall provide for mirror adjustment by tilting in both the horizontal and vertical
directions. If the mirror is in the head impact area, the mounting shall deflect, collapse
or break away without leaving sharp edges when the reflective surface of the mirror is
subjected to a force of 400 N in any forward direction that is not more than 45° from
the forward longitudinal direction.

S6

buses, with GVWR of 4,536 kg or less.

Try looking on ecomodder.com. There's a guy who has a blue Del Sol who did modifications similar to what you're talking about.
