Using seperate remote on a 2004 accord
Is it possible to program a separate remote (no key or transponder) for use with an 04 accord?
If so what remote number is needed.

Re: Using seperate remote on a 2004 accord
Got that part tested and mastered! I still need a little help. I just was given a well taken care of 2004 accord LX from my son and I love the LX (and my Son)!
He gave me just one working key with no remote entry, so I ordered the replacement. While working out some of the problems, I got the remote keyless receiver to go into program mode and make the door thump sound when registering my two new key transmitters. After programming, I turned the ignition off, removed the key, and exited the car (doors all closed). However, none of the two new remote entry transmitters work! They'd seem to program ok, and cause the muted 'thump' sound in all doors--but do not work outside of the car!
Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this problem? The transmitters all have brand new CR1616 batteries and the key LEDs light up brightly when pressed, they both seemed to program ok, but they do not unlock or lock the car! The driver door manual lock/unlock switch/push button does work! Also, where is the remote access receiver located? Could a former owner or misguided dealer/mechanic disabled the remote access by pulling a cable connection? I realize anyone with a car key could have emptied the receiver to disable remote access, but it looks more serious than that. Thanks in advance. :-)
All help, thoughts and ideas are welcome!

Re: Using seperate remote on a 2004 accord
The receiver antenna for the keyless system is located in the power window master switch (door multiplex control unit (mcu)).
When you use switches from the driver's master switch, all lock and unlock commands from this switch are communicated across the multiplex communication line (i.e., a one wire B-Can communication line) to the multiplex integrated control unit (micu) located in the under-dash fuse/relay box.
The keyless system uses the same one wire B-Can communication line from the driver's door mcu to communicate to the MICU in the under-dash fuse box.
Since it sounds like your door locks work when you use the master switch and was able to get into programming mode with the remote transmitter, the one wire B-Can communication line would not be cut or disconnected.

Re: Using seperate remote on a 2004 accord
Tech8, thanks! I appreciate the help. I love the 2004 Accord, but it's my first Accord and I'm still getting used to all of its unique characteristics. Yesterday, I got the driver door outside key lock window close/open to work with the second unlock--I'm getting happier by the day as you all (Texan: y'all) teach me about my 'new' car. Once I get the remotes to work I'll be even happier! :-)
I love it and thanks again!
