Default seat belt cleaning?

well I noticed that some of my seat belts are dirty on the webbing part it possible to clean it thoroughly. Or do I have to replace it because that component of the seat belt cant be cleaned. I thought about using a steam cleaner to clean the dirt. on the seat belt

The first time, I used a soft scrub brush with them still in the car. That was difficult, and got cleaner all over the inside the car. Second time I took the seat belt out, and cleaned it with resolve carpet cleaner and the same brush. Came out much better because I could pull the belt all the way out, and set it flat on a table.

Thanks for all the Good Advise and Information Guys I think I can finally clean my seatbelts. Because they seriously need it I'm hoping I can clean them with out weakling the material of the seat belt. I'll try some resolve carpet cleaner on one then upholstery cleaner on the other and see which one works best.

I think as long as you don't use harsh chemicals (Clorox etc.) it will not harm the seatbelt. The belts are easy to clean, but the hard part, IMO, is getting them in a position for easy cleaning. I couldn't do an effective job without taking them out of the car. It's back breaking work, at least for me, trying to get them clean still inside the car. You have to be somewhat careful with the retractor mechanism, but it's just a couple bolts to get them out. The B-pillar cover just pulls off.

Thanks I hope I can get them clean cause I don't want to have to replace them. And yea the B-Pillar cover pulls off easy I believe you remove the bottom pillar trim first then for the B-pillar you pull out and then down to release the clips. The top cover that covers the seat belt Anchor bolt can be a little bit more difficult. But I'm sure I will do just fine on that.

Honda says to stretch them out and clean with mild soap, and a brush, then stretch them out and leave them until dry, I wouldnt use anything else, because you don't know the effect it will have on the strength of the webbing, it could have a reaction and you not be able to visibly see it

yes in the manual it did say to clean them that way but it had little to no effect on toughly cleaning them. But when you say mild soap your talking about soap like the Bar of dial soap or something like dawn?

I'm sure Dawn would work OK. I had the resolve lying around, so I used it.
