Inside edge tire wear on rear, SAGGING SPRINGS?
Hey guys!
I've got 156,000 on my Accord, so I'm confident the suspension isn't as stiff as it used to be.
I'm getting unusually faster wear on the inside of the tires when they're on the rear. I've gotten the car aligned and I rotate every 5,000.
When I look at the car from the rear, I can definitely see the top of the tires being slightly inward, negative camber as i recall.
So, is sagging/aging springs and aging struts a potential cause of this and what would be your recommendations?
Thank you!!!

The alignment specs (readout ) will tell the story on camber and toe, if your within spec you should be fine , but you might on on fringe so if you could post specs of alignment it be good .

Re: Inside edge tire wear on rear, SAGGING SPRINGS?
Buying new susp is not cheap -- I recently went out west (06 Honda Element) and found the inside of the tires were worn slap down to the belts. I bought new tires and put the older ones on the rear / shifted most of the weight I had towards the front in the overhead clamshell, (2 teenage boys in back)
*********
By the time I got home from there- 1300 miles, the tires were worn again. I can only attribute this to the weight in the back - we bought the veh new and have made numerous trips to NY - same weight- and no issues until now. The Firestone place told me the springs could be worn out? I havent seen this before being in the auto industry for 11 years. The only other option is to get aftermarket adjustable upper control arms (the camber is off by -2.5 to -2.8 on both rear wheels (after I removed all the weight out of the back)
**********
I called Honda and they stated that they do not sell adjustable control arms (if am co. makes a part- I assume they wouldnt make it for no reason- there would have to be a need) I would rather fix the issue with OEM parts than adjust for the issue with a non-Honda part.

SO, do I need new springs??? and will this fix the issue.....Please help.

Late model Hondas seem to have pretty weak factory suspension and the only place to get springs (other than performance) is Honda. If your gonna replace the springs you need to replace the struts too. I would recommend springs and good (not cheap) aftermarket struts. Get ready to open the wallet as it's probably gonna cost $$$ (usually $500 for both sides).
Cheapest Honda parts around (unless you know someone.lol.): http://www.bkhondaparts.com/billkay/jsp/home.jsp or http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/
Good place for reasonably cheap aftermarket struts and adjustable control arms and general anything for your car: http://www.rockauto.com/
*NOTE: When parts in the suspension are replaced it puts more stress on the parts that weren't replaced and eventually leads to those parts going bad fairly quickly. So check out the other suspension parts when replacing the springs/struts and in a couple of months check again to make sure everything is ok.

Thanks....first time I've been disappointed with a Honda after owning 3 now.
The only other suggestion I have gotten is to put rubber spring spaces in the springs, for compensation, anyone else?

Its maintenance. Id rather have the struts and suspension go out than the engine.
Just go aftermarket coilovers.
Skunk2 $300 for all 4.
Its going to be stiff, but I like it because cornering seems to make a big diff with a slight drop. OR just keep it all the way up.

do you carry heavy stuff in your trunk all the time, or travel a lot with a lot of stuff in your trunk? if so than thats why your rear tires are wearing faster on the inside of the tires.
