power steering noise
Greeting from a new member,
I need some direction for my accord power steering issue. I have an 05 Accord V6, the power steering pump(PS) is making a very loud noise and I notice it does leaking fluid and as I refill the reservoir the fluid actually bubble up and outflow instead of going down the tube. I took some advice to flush it with no help. Does that mean my PS pump is gone? I read some posts on this forum about leaking PS pump but I couldn't tell if there is any visible leak other than seeing the fluid bubble up and overflow as engine running. What happen to my PS pump? what should I check? Replacing the pump is my last resource as it's pretty pricey; just called a local junk yard and they want $200 for a used one. Thanks for your inputs.

Re: power steering noise
sounds like you have air in the system. it is common for air to get past the oring for the inlet tube on the pump. you should see some leakage on the bottom of the pump around the inlet area. Look for and fix any leaks that you see. fill the system up and bleed all the air out by turning the wheel back and fourth and letting the car run for a bit.

O-Ring at inlet hose sounds right as holmadk stated. Start from there. Easy fix.
Go to local Honda dealership and they should have it in stock. good luck
Blame p/s pump later. start from something cheap. This is pretty common on this year accords

Re: power steering noise
thank you guys, that did it. I finally got the time to work on it. I'm amazed that something that small can cause such trouble. The o ring cost me 84 cents can fix something that I initially thought could be hundreds. Even the part guy at Honda dealer knew what I was talking about; he knew right away when I told him about the PS noise. He said "that's very common". Thanks again and wishing you folks the best this Christmas season.
