p2647, i replaced the oil pressure switch 3 days ago, now oil light is on???? HELP!!
This is a little lengthy, Sorry.
Ok, 2005 Honda Accord 2.4L Vtec Auto matic.
Bought the car 3/18/11 from a great dealer.
4/24/11, Check engine light comes on and then moments after it came on when I was trying to accelerate because traffic was speeding up on interstate (I'm not the one who is speedy gonzalez but I got tired of this person coming up too close so I sped up to avoid a wreck), it started bucking and tried to die when it tried to hit vtec.
I took it to an auto parts store and the diagnosis code was P2647 Rocker arm actuator bank 1 stuck on. I was told this was the oil pressure switch. As long as I did not try to hit vtec, my car was fine.
I just got around to fixing it 7/10/11 with a new switch (from autozone because that was the only place that had it in my area, and yes I know it's crappy) and my car was fine for a day. On 7/12/11, I was getting off work and just got off the interstate and my oil light came on this time, no check engine light. I pulled over, let the car rest for a second and checked my oil. It's fine. But, it didn't buck this time like it was going to die. I changed my oil 3 weeks ago and the oil was a good color, not black or anything. I have not been leaking oil or smellling oil burning.
I took it back up to the auto store and the same code came up.
I am going to the Honda dealership today to get a GOOD QUALITY oil pressure switch to see if that will help. But why would my oil light come on when it didn't come on BEFORE I replaced the part?\
Any suggestions???
I've read this issue is very common in my model car...
Any help is very much appreciated!!! Thank you in advance.
Also, is the problem bad enough to where I need to get rid of the car???
I will be checking for oil sludge this weekend.

Before driving the vehicle, make sure there is oil in it. If there is, than the oil pressure switch you put in is faulty or the wire isn't connected.
However, p2647 is for a vtec oil pressure switch failure, which isn't the same as the engine block oil pressure switch. So the oil pressure switch you installed will not fix your cel. You'll need to replace the vtec oil pressure switch on the vtec solenoid. I would recommend going to the dealer for it.

Well, if you replaced the vtec oil switch then it has nothing to do with the oil light being on unless it's leaking. Is there oil reading on the dipstick?

I had the exact same problem, replaced the vtec solenoid oil pressure switch and o-ring filter. My car STILL comes up with P2647 and bucks at 3000 RPM. ** This only happens in the morning from a cold start. I can put it in neutral, turn engine off, restart, and it's fine. The engine light will disappear about midway through the day.
