So does THIS really work and improve performance?

if its your daily driver you wont notice anything but maybe sound of the exhaust if you have an aftermarket. If its a racecar/dragcar w/e yes.

I have a 2012 4-cylinder Honda Accord. I'm thinking it won't do much with it. I guess what I'm looking better exhilaration.

No, it will not increase your performance. I will last a lot longer than the original filter, if you don't mind cleaning it when it gets dirty. I would rather buy a new filter than clean the K&N filter. You have a 4 cylinder Accord, and it's as fast as it's going to get, without expensive or unreliable mods.
