Default left turn signal not working

i have a 2003 accord lx.
the left turn signals does not work no clicking sound no flashing lights. front, back or inside the dash.
it's not the fuse or bulb my mechanic already checked it. he switched the left bulbs to the right and it worked fine on the right.
when i turn on the hazards only the right work.
does anyone have an idea as to what the issue might be?

Tell your mechanic to jump pin 2 to pin 6 on the turn signal/ hazard relay connector on the under-dash fuse/ relay box with jumper wires and then switch on your left turn signal.

If it works, you have a faulty turn signal/ hazard relay.

I had the same problem, and was able to resolve it. Here are the results. THANKS and acknowledgement to information posted in this and other forums!!! Was able to fix it in a few minutes and saved $100. I took some pictures of the work - hope it helps others. Biggest issue was removing the under-dash panel (remove the left screw first) and removing the relay (REALLY TIGHT FIT).

Symptoms: 2003 Accord EX 4 door. No left turn blinker or lights (front or back). Right side flashed fine.

1. Pressed the hazard switch. Right side OK, but no left turn signal or lights.

2. Checked the tail turn signal by swapping passenger and driver bulbs. (bulbs twist out). At least the rear bulbs were OK. The wiring seemed intact, with no water leaks, etc.

3. Tested the circuit by removing flasher relay. Inserted a jumper wire between the 2 and 6 locations (Thanks to the message in this thread). The front, rear and dash turn lights all checked OK.

4. Replaced the relay - Honda part 38300-SDB-A03. $23 bucks at local dealer.

5. YAHOO - it worked.

Total time - about 15 minutes.

NOTES.
1. The relay is located under the driver side right above the fuse panel. The relay is top-right.

2. SURPRISE! It's a tight, somewhat awkward location, so I removed a trim panel. The panel is held in by three trim clips in the front (toward YOU), and really simply rests on top of the main dash trim. I removed the screw on the lower-left side and was able to get a hand under the panel to pop out the clips.

3. Removing the relay. It has two small clip wings on either side. and held in place by somewhat flimsy plastic. I put a small screwdriver on each side to GENTLY pull back the retaining clips and used a big-jawed PLIER to remove the relay -- it's REALLY held in tight. I wrapped some cloth (hockey) tape around it first.

4. The relay backplane has a offset keyhole which mounts to the lower left.

Btw I didn't need to use a pulled, I taped it up and pulled it out by hand, it was a bit tight but it came out....

I had the same problem except it was the right turn signal that was not working. Neither the right front nor right rear turn signals functioned when tried from the steering column or the flashers.

I followed all of the suggestions in this thread and it solved the issue! Thank you everyone who posted for taking the time to do so. It really helped me. I just wanted to add a few observations of my own.

Taking off the trim panel is key. Without taking that panel off, it is nearly impossible to get the flasher relay out. It seemed a bit tricky at first. But after you take the screw above the fuse panel door off as in the photo above, you can wedge your finger in the top of the trim panel and get it unhooked from the three snaps. Don't be afraid to use a little force here.

After getting the trim panel off, it was fairly straightforward. The flasher relay was in there tightly but if you wiggle it while trying to undo the plastic wings, it will eventually come out of the socket. In my case, it didn't seem that difficult to get out by wiggling it.

I also tried to get a hold of the Honda repair manual to try to validate what was in this thread and make sure I was on the right track. I went to three different libraries and could only find the "Haynes Repair Manual for Honda Accord 2003 to 2005". It appears that if you want the actual Honda Repair manual, you will have to buy it from a Honda dealer. The Haynes manual did not have the part number for the flasher relay. I got the part number from this thread. You can confirm it by looking at auto parts stores websites. Some of them have pictures of the part. I was able to find an Auto Zone in my area that had the 38300-SDB-A03 in stock for $13.99. I also found other retailers that had non-OEM parts for $11.99 but most local stores did not have either version in stock. You can special order it if no stores in your area have it or order it from an on-line retailer. Note that many car parts stores have their own part numbers that cross-reference to the 38300-SDB-A03 Honda part.

Also, when diagnosing the problem, you can eliminate the case of the front turn signal bulb being burned out by just using the remote entry to try to unlock the doors. When you click unlock on the remote, both of the front turn signals should light! Mine both lit so I knew the bulbs were good. This will eliminate the somewhat undesirable task of going through the splash guard to remove the front turn signal bulb to check if it's burned out. The rear turn signal bulbs are easy to get to and check from the inside the trunk.

Thanks again to everyone who contributed to this thread. My turn signals and flashers in my 2003 Honda Accord EX, 4 cylinder, 4 door sedan model both work again!

Huge props and thanks to diyDAD. The instructions and pictures were extremely helpful and I was able to replace the relay on my 2004 Accord EX without too much difficulty. Getting the panel off was a little tricky, as was jiggering the faulty relay out of its place, but once I put in the new relay (paid $25 from reseller online, Honda OEM part), my hazards and turn signal worked like a charm. Putting the panel back was not so elegant but it should stay in there OK after I jammed it in. Thank you Internets and awesome Honda-Tech posters!!!

Amen to the above posts; great advice. The part now costs $28 bucks. But what the hey? Surely beats some major electrical overhaul. Thanks people.

This forum rocks!!!!!. I had the same problem:left turn signal not working. I got my tools for the first time.My spouse was like "what the heck".Anyway, I looked at the pictures posted in this forum, removed the fuse box panel and located the flasher relay. After some nudging, I pulled it out. I then took it to the local Honda dealer , got a replacement part and put the new one in this evening.Lights are flashing as good as never before.

Thanks a lot everyone. You just saved me a bunch

Thanks diyDad and others. I had the same problem and followed your steps. I order my new relay via the internet. Step #2 (removing the trim panel) is the biggest pain, but other than that, this is a pretty simple little job.

Thanks @diyDad, your info worked perfectly on my wife's 2005 Honda Accord EX. I was able to replace the turn signal relay in under 15 minutes, and I look like a hero to my wife. I'm totally a DIY Dad in my house now. Thanks!

I also tried this on my 2004 Accord. Part 38300-SDB-A03 although Honda wanted to replace it with 38260-SDAA01 at $140.00. Followed the instructions and it's working great. Thanks!

Hi all, I'm having this issue on my son's 03 Accord. I performed the diagnostic steps outlined in this thread, but jumped terminals 3 & 6 for the right signal. When I do so, the right turn signal indicator light illuminates on the dash, but still no right signal or right side hazards. I tried plugging in a new relay for kicks and giggles, but it was not that. Any ideas? The bulbs are good and so are the grounds (as I have parking lights).

I had problem with my right signal blinker and followed the same instructions with a minor difference. I jumped Pins 3 & 6 which turned the right Tail Light and the Backup light on, proving the issue being the Signal Relay. I am now trying to order the part online so that I can replace it with the faulty relay. Hopefully it will fix the problem
Cheers

Thanks to diyDad!!!! I fixed this problem today and worked like a charm. I had the same issue and yesterday I looked into this forum and followed the steps mentioned by diyDad and could solve the proble on my 2003 Honda Accord LX. Mentioned steps really helped.

I got the part from O'Reilley's which costed $16.99 and has 12 months warranty compared to dealer's $31.99 for the same warranty.

Thanks to you DiyDad and Power of Dreams I was able to quickly diagnose and fix my left blinker not working. It was the flasher relay and I had to order from my local dealer for $27.00. Took me about 30 minutes between playing music, sipping on my beer and getting under the steering wheel. The hardest part for me was getting the trim panel off because I didn't want to break any plastic. I took the fuse panel off first then worked the lower dash panel out but not completely removed (under the steering wheel where some switches sit, like sunroof and TCS). This way I was able to work the bottom trim panel off to get access to the relay. On my 2003 Accord it was the unit closest to the firewall sitting next to some other plugs and wires.

If it works, you have a faulty turn signal/ hazard relay.
that will keep the signal on either if your not turno on in the stick?
