To start off, I know very little about car repairs/maintenance, so I'm not comfortable doing any maintenance on my own. And unfortunately, I don't know anyone else who does so that I can confirm or ask about the recommended services. I just recently took my car in to the dealership to get an A13 service done and these were the other things that I was told were needed-

• Power Steering Fluid Change- $164. (never done)
• Brake Fluid Change - $149.95 (last done 2013)
• Brakes service (new pads, rotors) - $300 (They checked my brakes and said they were at 40-50%)
• Just rotors- $240

My question is... do any of the services prices sound reasonable at all or should I go search out a non-dealership service shop? I know dealerships charge quite a bit more for their services, but I'm not sure just how insane these prices are. (I'm also located in the bay area, which is an expensive area.)

I know my rotors definitely need to be serviced, as I feel vibrations/my steering wheel shake when I brake sometimes. After looking at the rotors, they came and said that they were in pretty bad shape and definitely need to be serviced. Service rep mentioned that if I need to get my rotors done, then I might as well consider getting new pads as well as it's only $60 more.

Ask them why your brakes need to rotors? They should have measured the rotors to find out how thick they are and what Honda minimal spec is. $120 per rotor is a tad on the expensive side.

Just said they were in bad shape and were warped. (From my brief googling on why I'm experience my car shake when braking, this seems like it could be the cause, so I didn't question it.) I'm looking at the receipt/information they gave me after the service. It doesn't mention how thick the rotors are though... unless I'm just overlooking it.

Just talked to another repair shop (just found a highly reviewed one on yelp) and they quoted me $86 for brake fluid, $98 for steering wheel fluid and $350 per axle regarding my brakes. How many axles does a honda accord have (2, 4?)? Can't tell if the other service shop is cheaper when it comes to servicing my brakes or the dealership. Oh, and do my brake pads really need to be replaced at 50%? (Assuming the rotors do need to be fixed, should I just go ahead and get the pads done as well then?)

Also, in regards to the power steering... is it necessary to have it flushed and if so how often? Reading up on this, I get mixed feedback. Some say it really isn't a big deal and not necessary at all (just a sales gimmick), others say should be done once a year...

go to discount auto and buy some aftermarket rotors shouldn't be more then 40 each, bring them to the dealership and pay the labor to install after market rotors with oem brake pads, should cost you about 250 totally, do the brake flush and power steering flush every 3 years. youre welcome.

What dealerships put non-Honda parts on? Never heard of one.

Prices vary widely by region. With that said, your prices sound reasonable.

You would do well to Google repair shops in your area and look for positive reviews. Many times independent repair shops can give you better prices with the same quality parts and warranty.

I'm assuming them mean 2 axles (front and back) as you probably have disc brakes all the way around. $300 for all pads and rotors at the dealer isn't bad.

Honda recommends to check all fluids once a year or every 20K miles. All those fluids break down after a while. Replacing fluids is supposed to ensure that those systems will last as long as possible.

dealer prices include OEM parts. monroe price include monroe parts etc.

install time is set in stone no matter how long it takes. example timing belt water takes 8 shop hours. 8 x $100 per shop hour = $800 plus parts.

different shops charge different labor prices. buying parts online will save u $$
