Danger of Driving with Stretched Chain?

Danger of Driving with Stretched Chain?
I've got a 2008 Accord, 4-Cylinder, 128,000 miles. Past two years I've had off and on problem that I'm pretty sure is a stretched chain: Codes are P0341 and P1009, symptoms are stuttering performance and engine eats oil when problem is active. (And I did go through a short period of low oil levels.)
But, there are times when problem isn't happening (usually cooler weather). During those time, no engine lights, oil isn't consumed, and engine runs fine. Also, adding "BG MOA Motor Oil Additive" seemed to increase time before problem crops up. It can go a few months of being problem-free.
I'm on a tight budget and just wondered what the economics and risks are of continuing to drive this car this way. In particular, what are the chances I could get away with not fixing problem with summer and would I risk increased engine damage if I tried to do that?
Thx in advance,
Jon

Re: Danger of Driving with Stretched Chain?
IMHO - You are playing on borrowed time. When it finally "jumps" a tooth your cost of repair just doubled or more.
Not long ago someone kept putting it off.....can't remember how many valves got bent and how much the final bill was....if I had to guess, at least $2500

Re: Danger of Driving with Stretched Chain?
I wouldn't think the outside temperature would make a stretched chain act differently.Unless the car has been ran low on oil, there is no reason for the chain to be stretched at that mileage.Unless you have physical evidence that the chain is stretched,I would look elsewhere for your problem.
