Awesome. You know what else those 2 little wires do? Tell the SRS control unit your seatbelt is buckled which affects airbag deployment. So now you have the potential for airbag deployment in a situation where if you had not tampered with the system it normally may not have. Or it won't deploy when it should.

</TD></TR></TABLE>

He was just asking how to get it to stop beeping...he obviously doesn't care about wearing a seat belt, honestly, i'm not a cop, there's no reason for me to try to get him to do so. What he was interested in was how to stop the beep, and I told him. Simple enough. If you don't like it, don't do it.

I am pretty sure it comes from inside the integrated control unit.

I so totally figured it out for the 05 Civic LX.

1. unplug the black plug under the seat.

2. place a paperclip jumping the green wire and the blue with red strip wire in the loose in of the plug coming from the floor.

3. Reset srs light on dash using the paperclip method.

NO MORE BEEP BEEP!

Putting non API 0W-20 in a car that is designed for 5W-20 isn't too smart either...

the whole fact of trying to disable the beep cuz ur not responsible enough to wear your seatbelt isn't smart at all. If ur just going down the road and u don't wanna hear it then just blast ur stereo.. and if you don't like that idea then get u a pair of these..

And if you don't like that idea do w/e the hell u want. I just hope you will realize how much of a dumbass you are when u do have a wreck. None of this makes sense!!

You're trying to remove the annoying beep to make it your ride a more luxurious cruise of death? I don't get it..

About a month ago I had a wreck in my 06civic ex going 36mph when I hydroplaned & took a 20ft roll into a ravine. Coming to a stop upside down in a creek only a foot deep. Why am I still here? My F**KING SEATBELT.. WEAR IT!

^^Get off your high horse

OP said it's not often that he doesn't wear his seat belt, and its usually for going up and down the driveway for mail.

If you drive like a dumbass, you'll realize that you probably are one. Don't get on his case for driving up and down the driveway (my friend's driveway was 3/4 of a mile long, fyi, so I understand the reasoning for doing so to get mail)

Stop driving like a douchebag in the rain, and odds of you hydroplaning is pretty low.

Who said the OP is going to drive 64MPH down his driveway in blizzard condition to get mail?

Again, get off your high horse. It's private property, if he wanted to let his 12 year old son drive, he has the right to.

Thank you.

It can't be done. Even if you short the seat belt switch, it will eventually set an SRS code because the system will think the switch is shorted.

The same thing happens if you leave the seat belt constantly buckled (You're not behind it, but it's buckled. You get out of the car, it's buckled. Get it?).

ok, I will bite. How long is it supposed to take to send the SRS code? I haven't had any problems with it since I did it.

Also, I didn't disable the air bag. It is still plugged in. I fooled the system into thinking the seat belt was plugged in so that I could freely use my seat belt when I am driving down the road, but I don't have to listen to that high pitch beeping when I am going from the house to the barn down a private gravel road.

Well I wear my seatbelt because of the beep. So I don't mind that but someone brought up cleaning there car and leaving the doors open and playing music. Is there a way to stop the door chimes? There shouldn't be a safety issue with that should there?

This is the stupidest thing ive ever heard, You go ahead and "fool" your car into thinking your buckled up and when your dumbass gets in a wreck and the airbag deploys and possibly kills you. Your SRS system is designed to save your life when you get in an accident grow a brain and wear your seatbelt until you turn your car off.

Im not sure how you could turn off the beeping. The extenders seem like the best idea here so far. As far as safety goes I would like to be able to choose to buy a car without airbags, abs and vsa. My old MR-2 has none of them :-) wow i am still alive !! how does that happen? I wonder how much money we could save without paying for all of that crap.

Guys, the beep is emitted from the beeper which is integrated in the gauge control module assembly. Power and ground flow through two transistors.

So, unless you're brave enough to micro-solder on a circuit board and potentially damage your gauge control module, it's not possible.

Under the drivers seat, with the car turned off. Unplug the black plug, use a paperclip to jump the green and the black wires, and leave it there. If the air bag light does come on look up the paper clip method to reset the light. It does work.

I would advise that you still wear your seat belt! If you have an accident the air bag will deploy as if you did have your belt fastened, instead of at the 2nd stage for when you don't have it fastened.

What this does is trick the system into thinking your have fastened the seat belt. I still wear my seat belt when I am on the road but I can now drive around the job site a 3 mph without hearing that stupid bell.

I did this about a month ago, and the air bag light has not come on, and I have not had any problems with my guages.

i have an '05 cr-v and i have been bothered by the chime that everyone is talking about. this beeping is obscenely loud and drove me insane. THERE IS A WAY TO FIX IT. i would not recommend this to anyone who isn't mechanically inclined. i am a 19 year old college student and i fixed it in an afternoon. the beep comes from a small speaker located behind the speedometer and in the "gauge unit". basically i took my dashboard apart, then took what im calling the gauge unit apart, and found the circuit board that controls the speed gauge, the tachometer, the temp, and the fuel gauge. there is a small blue speaker on this board that you can remove. i tried to cover it w glue at first, then just removed the whole thing. i have installed everything back in the car and seems to be working ok. only prob is the gauges are a little off.... so mark them before you remove the needles... good luck. you will need it.

'05 cr-v LX
-component speakers
-more to come

My girlfriend traded in her Prius for our Accord...and if you guys think the Accord's beeping is annoying, you haven't seen anything until you've driven the Prius.

It beeps about 5 times when you start it...beeps continuously in reverse...and if there's one seatbelt off, it will beep with increasing fury and frequency until you buckle it. The Accord seems non-intrusive by comparison.

I know what the op is saying. I have an 09 Accord EXL-V6. I always wear my seatbelt. My dad died because he wasn't wearing his. I don't always buckle mine right away and I find it annoying when the car beeps at me for it. Not only is the beeping annoying but now my girlfriend is always telling me to buckle my seatbelt before we pull out of the driveway so I don't set the annoying chime off.

WOW the amount of **** smoking ********* preaching safety in this thread is astounding! Go do some community service or something if your that concerned with the well being of others.

Also READ, the OP wants to drive on his DRIVEWAY without a seatbelt..some people actually have long driveways.

-OP I know that in my fathers Corolla there was a trick to disable it... you had to turn the keys to accessory (II) and clip the belt in and out about 7 or 8 times, the chime would sound off twice to let you know it was disabled. Try this method out on your accord it could work.

oh and just for the ********, the reason I disabled it was because on Thanksgiving I had gotten a bunch of groceries and a turkey and set them on the passenger seat.. The car thought it was an unbuckled passenger and beeped for nearly my whole trip home.

stupid electronic nannies like these are ridiculous and should never be considered safety measures, because if you are too stupid to buckle your seatbelt without an annoying chime then you are the lowest denominator, as in DUMB AS ROCKS. Whats next? A chime to let you know that you are driving with only one hand? or a chime to let you know that you haven't looked into your rear view mirror in the last 2 mins?
