That must have been a pretty annoying 5-10 minutes.

Has anyone actually contacted Honda to see if there is a way to turn it off using HIM ???
I know with allmost all nissan cars, any chime/ safety feature can be tured off. Its not something most dealers will do, for liability reasons.

On my SI I ended up taking out the cluster and removing the chime on the board, with a steady hand it's quite easy to do. Just take your time and only touch the terminals on the chime itself. Or you should be able to gently rock the chime back and forth as it has a tad bit of play and it will break the wires that are soldered onto the board. I unsoldered my as if I sell it I'll be able to put it back.

buckle up the seatbelts when you're not in the mood to buckle up, and sit on the seatbelt.

If you have a small allen wrench you can "buckle" the belt. Just push down the metal bar inside of the buckle from the top. Works on Civics anyway.
Then when you want to put the belt on just push the red button, and it will release.

-OP I know that in my fathers Corolla there was a trick to disable it... you had to turn the keys to accessory (II) and clip the belt in and out about 7 or 8 times, the chime would sound off twice to let you know it was disabled. Try this method out on your accord it could work.

oh and just for the ********, the reason I disabled it was because on Thanksgiving I had gotten a bunch of groceries and a turkey and set them on the passenger seat.. The car thought it was an unbuckled passenger and beeped for nearly my whole trip home.

stupid electronic nannies like these are ridiculous and should never be considered safety measures, because if you are too stupid to buckle your seatbelt without an annoying chime then you are the lowest denominator, as in DUMB AS ROCKS. Whats next? A chime to let you know that you are driving with only one hand? or a chime to let you know that you haven't looked into your rear view mirror in the last 2 mins?
Wow you rode with a loose frozen turkey inside your car and you call someone else stupid. Loose frozen turkey + car crash= Turkey Missle.

Well since were onthe topic of disabling safety features on our cars, does anyone wanna know how to blow up a car with an 02 sensor?
Or maybe jump the airbags to the horn or starter relay? Thats a good one! LOL

Or is there a way to make it not go off AS much as it does? I have this problem only on the passenger side. Because it is registering weight in the passenger side I know if my fiance doesn't put his seatbelt on right away it goes off. And it is annoying and I always bug him to do it quickly cuz it irritates the shizzy out of me. But maybe check with the Honda dealer they probably know? Nothing in the manual I take it?

I have a 2005 Honda CR-V. The seatbelt indicator does not go off when I plug in the seatbelt. And so now I get that annoying beep every minute or so. I always wear my seatbelt, and I don't want to get ripped off at a Honda dealership. Is there any way to disable the alarm (similar to disabling the BeltMinder feature in a Ford)? I've looked at the wiring schematics and don't see a fuse for this feature. Any help would be appreciated. I'm at my wit's end, short of taking it to a dealership and paying whatever ungodly amount they want to fix this feature.

When you die sitting on the seat belt, will it be worth it? It will be too late to change your stupid ways then.

The only thing I can think of is to find the speaker that beeps, disconnect one of the wires and run it to a switch that you can turn on and off. There is a spot on my '06 Civic to the left of the steering wheel that you can put a switch in (I believe it's where the fog light switch goes if you have that feature on your Civic). You can either get the OEM switch from Honda or do a search for OEM Honda parts and most likely get it much cheaper online, or just buy a toggle switch from Radio Shack, and mount the switch in the spare plate. This way, you have control of the speaker being on or off

I would not suggest doing any other modifications to your Civic (using paper clips or cutting wires for example!!) as you can disable your driver or passenger airbags among other things that you do not know of. The 06' Civic also has a sensor in the passenger seat that detects a certain weight. I believe 20 pounds and under disables the airbag, as a baby seat can be in the front and the last thing you want is the airbag deploying. Messing with any of the wires under your seat can truly screw up your car, especially if you cut some. You would be really screwed when you want to sell the car too!

The safest way is to find the speaker, and hook it up to a switch like described above. That way, you can always take out the switch and hook the speaker back up if you sell your car.

Personally, I think that seat belt reminder, as annoying as it can be for passengers who don't like putting on their seat belts, is a great feature. No matter how good of a driver you are, that means nothing if some idiot or drunk driver swerves into your lane head on! I think I would be really happy my seat belt was on in that instance!

instead of this, just find the speaker, and give it a good smash, like with a hammer.. or a good pinch.. with some pliers

hello all. i want to know the same thing. can you turn it off. and dont give me that buckle up crap ive got harnesses so i do just not with the factory belts. and for the record the airbag system is all on its own. i am a body man. and mainly work on the air bag system. the air bag system has nothing to do with the seat belt on the driver side or the passinger side. the only time the airbags and seatbelts are together is when the car says that there is something in the seat or not. if there is noone in the seat the pass bag wont go off and if there is it will. the only thing that makes the airbags not go off is the car. it is smart. like if you get hit in the rear wether you have your seat belt on or not it shouldnt deploy. because if it does it will hit you when youy are going forward and smash you back and cause wiplash and may break your neck. head on it will because of where the force is it then acts as a cushion. so... yeah...

This is actually a valid question. Subarus do the same thing, but you can disable the constant reminder beeps by following a certain procedure, which involves buckling and unbuckling the seatbelt 15 times in 15 seconds. Yes, you feel like a madman during the procedure, but it solves the problem. Afterwards, it will beep for one series (about 5 seconds) if you don't buckle up, but won't keep bugging you as you drive after that. Nothing else (SRS etc) is affected. Honda probably has a hidden way to do this as well, and hopefully someday we'll hear about it.

This board is USELESS. A dozen people asked the same questions and all you get are a bunch of old ladys telling me I have to wear my seat belt. The question asked repeadly was how to turn off the buzzer. No one asked for any other response other then the technical know how of how to disable the buzzer. All you safety fanatics should wear a full body suit every time you walk down the street or sleep in your bed for fear a car might get you. Safety first!

I NEVER wear my seat belt. My desision, none of your bisiness. The buzzer bothers me. I would like to know how to disable it without affecting air bag deployment etc. got a problem with my decision....bite me.

So unless someone can tell me how to turn the buzzer off please save the safety lectures for someone who cares (no one on this board) and keep your oponions to your self. This board is supposed to be usefull and the idiots who posted everything but the answer to question should go away.

So, anyone have the answer? Probably not

Here here.

You people should keep your mouths shut if you don't have an answer to this question.

I always wear my seatbelt.
This morning, my car stopped recognizing the seatbelt; and now the car beeps to remind me every 20 seconds.

So stop telling us how important it is to wear a seatbelt and tell me how to turn this noise off. It is maddening.

Does anyone else find it hilarious the number of brand new, 1 post members on the board? Who joined JUST for this thread?

Here's the top tip, go to the junkyard or eBay, buy a seatbelt clip for your car and clip it in. Chime disabled.

Some people are just retarded, why would you want to disable a switch, remove a speaker, etc? All the car wants is something plugged in. So plug something in.

Spray electrical contact cleaner down the seatbelt slot (test for discoloration first on plastic in small area) My guess is you have spilled soda, or a skittle or something and gummed up the contact in there.

You also do not mention your year/make/model at all so I have no idea if you're referring to your 92 Ford Mustang LX or if you're referencing a 2011 Accord EX-V6.

I have been following this topic every since we purchased our 2008 Odyssey. I am in the camp of wanting to use my own brain w/regard to safety versus Honda imposing that decision upon me with a very annoying sound. I found a very simple solution that only costs $20 and it works great. Check out this seat belt extended from a company that is using eBay as their storefront:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SEAT-...Q5fAccessories

This extender clip pops right in the normal seat below buckle and effectively disables the extremely annoying chime while still maintaining the airbag/etc. This way you can actually use your judgment as to when you wear your seatbelt versus a Honda lawyer or engineer imposing their judgment upon you.

It's idiots like you guys is why it's mandatory to wear belts in ALL seats in my state. If they don't want to wear a belt let 'em. It's their own form of population control.

Usually I would say go ahead and do what you want and not wear the seat belts. However, I think it is irresponsible to say because of an annoying beep that you can justify disabling the reminder. If you don't feel like a reminder is necessary for you, OK, but don't decide for others who may drive your car or ride in it. Some people DO need reminders.
