Default Accord 2004 (V6 model) car: AC only blow cool air on passenger side

My car, Accord 2004, v6 model, the AC got several problems:

(1)only blow cool air on passenger side, but it just give some sort of air flow(not cool) in driver side.
(2)it is dual climate control for the venting system.
(3)I have it checked for the Freon 3 months ago, there is no leaking according to the mechanics. But they say i need to change the compressor, which the total would be 1000$. It is too expensive.
(4)when i start the AC for cooling air, i can hear sort of noise other than the engine. But i have to listen to it very carefully on my ears.
(5)In winter, it give hot air for both side, but after i close the heating system, the vent still supply some sort of hot air until i stop the car completely.

Based on above info, i am considering reasons:

(1) the compressor functions normally because there is still cooling air coming out?
(2) maybe the compressor has just a little problem for driver side?
(3) the air mix vent system has some problem, like "cable/motor/actuator motor/flap motor, etc", such that the heating mixed with the cooled air makes the driver side venting not cool?
(4) the air duct has some leaking on driver side before it reach the vent?
(5) other places has leaking heating that is mixing with the cool air for driver side?
(6) the temperature controls has some problem with driver side?
(7) some sensors/switches is not working for driver side?
(8) cooling valve is not working for drive side?

In all, i can only think about above possible reasons. What i should do to have a check for the real problem? Or any body can give some good suggestions?

Thanks a lot!

I am still chasing the same problem. I changed the driver side blend motor it see seemed to help. Last summer the compressor went out changed that seemed to work better. Now that it's hot same problem. I read there could be a small leak in the condenser. But not sure if that is it or not.

Ok
Just based on what you said I am guessing your a little low on freon, when this happens you can have a difference in temp across the vents, the noise you are hearing is probably around the glove box area, it's freon going thru your expansion valve... If you get noise there it typically means you are low on freon, it could also mean you have a restriction there but if thst was the case more than likely you would not get much for cold air. And the heat issue is normal. Even with the system off you are still going to feel some heat.

I had the same problem on my 03 Accord a few years ago. It turned out that the actuating rod from one of the vent door servos had come loose from the door on the passenger side. It took the tech five minutes to fix it after a few hours of pulling the dash apart and half his hair out. The rest of the system and all the servos had checked out ok. There are several vent doors in that system, so you need to look at all of them.

Good luck!

I have the same issue with my 06 Accord, and they just recharged the a/c a couple of weeks ago (no difference). Cool air out of the right side vents, room temp out of the left.....Question is, is this actuating rod accessible without pulling the dash apart, or did the tech HAVE to tear it apart to access the rod?
Any idea which actuator servo it was? Can you see it attached to the side of the box like the one on the left side by the gas pedal?

I'll assume you have "dual" ac settings?

The driver air mix motor is a bit tight but you can get to it from the drivers floor board.

Yes, dual zone, nav, etc. I have already checked the drivers side blend door actuator, did a sweep test. Its stutters a bit in the middle of the sweep from hot to cold and back, but it will do the full sweep. I removed the actuator motor, and manually moved the blend door lever and the white plastic arm the moves the heater control valve cable. Everything there appears to be ok. Thats why I was interested in your comments about the passenger side. Whats accessible under the dash that I could test?

As I read this there are two possible issues.

1. Drivers mix motor it not doing the job

2. Low charge in the AC system. You state you recharged it a few weeks ago, why? The way the system is set up, a low charge will give "good" cooling on the pass side but very little to none on the drivers. Re-check the high and low side pressures.

Same problem. Cold passenger side warm drivers side. Recharged system and now both sides are fine. Looks like it was low freon. Good luck!!

Same problem with the dual zone AC on my 2006 V-6 Accord. The Honda people have (A) recharged the system (B) replaced the expansion valve and (C) replaced the actuator motor assembly located just above the accelerator. Presently all is working well. By the way, the air on the driver's side was hot, not warm, and the passenger side was cold, not cool.
