Default 7G Accord seatblet & SRS light help

Hi all--appreciate any input:

A buddy of mine was in a low speed incident (<10mph, in heavy stop/go traffic) - only exterior damage was a scuff to the front bumper. However, after the incident, the drivers seat belt was locked into position. No one else in the car, no airbags deployed. However, the SRS light stayed on & passenger airbag light flashes on/off. He figured the seat belt tension system had gone off so that was replaced with a brand new part from Honda. Belt works fine now, but the lights are still on. Had the codes pulled (at home then at the dealer) which if I understand are:
F1-11 drivers side airbag and tensioner deployed
E2-11 passenger airbag do not deploy

From my reading it seems that the SRS module has to be replaced after an incident like this, so having some flashing lights is normal despite replacing the belt & there is no way to reset/clear this (even w/ HDS). What I don't get is why there is a code for the passenger side when the belt was/is fine on the pass side and the airbag didn't go off on either side. I'm also not sure if there is a separate code for drivers side tensioner ONLY and the code he has now is unusual because it includes the airbag as well.

A few questions:
1.) Is my assumption/reading correct in that after an incident like this, the SRS unit must be replaced in addition to the belt?
2.) Is it just a swap/plug and play (no programming/calibrating/etc.)?
3.) Would this fix the issue or is there more going on as per the dealer the codes are for the driver & Passenger side as mentioned above.
3b.) Would anything else need to be addressed - i.e. sensors, etc.?

Thanks in advance

I read the codes different

11-1x - Open or increased resistance in drivers airbag first inflator
21-1x - Open or increased resistance in drivers seat belt tensioner

Have you tried to re-set the SRS unit, they can be re-set.....long shot.

Since there was an "issue" and the SRS system "activated", my "understanding" is that the SRS unit is a "one and done" when activated - so if it set the "tensioner" then the unit is done. They are a plug and play replacement

yes srs units are replaced when any type of deployable restraint goes off ( belt tensioners, airbags, buckle tensioners, etc.) as far as replacing the srs unit, replacing them is the easy part. you will have to recalibrate the the ods and sws sensors via special software program.

Yup tried resetting the unit (using a jumper wire) w/o any luck. Just curious, where did you get those code readings from?

You think the OPDS and all need to be calibrated event though we wont plan on touching that and just swapping out the module?

Still not sure if the front sensor(s) need to be replaced as well??

The sensor in the seat won't need to be Replaced. However if you replace the srs unit. It will store a code for sws calibration. Basically you will still have the srs light on til you get it calibrated. You could do all the work yourself and bring it somewhere that can calibrate.

I'm the sad person that buys a service manual for a car I don't even own so I can try to help others . I bought the manual from "www automanualsource dot com" - I went for the option of a CD shipped so it cost me ~$27.

Just me, I'd only worry about the "programing" of the "ods" and "sws" IF there are issues. According to what I read it is not required.

interesting. give it a go, best case you will not have to initialize it and save some money. worst case you will have to. im 90% percent certain though you will still need to initialize system whether it be opds, ods or sws.

from serve bulletin 02-052 --"To work properly, the occupant position detection
system (OPDS) unit must be initialized whenever you
replace the SRS unit, the OPDS unit, or the seat-back
cover or seat-back cushion in the front passenger's
seat.
You can initialize the OPDS unit two different ways: (1)
using the Honda Diagnostic System (HDS) or (2) using
the Manual Mode."

ODDLY ENOUGH EVEN MANUAL MODE REQUIRES HDS TO SHORT THE SCS
