Default 2008 accord v6 6speed vibration dealer doesnt have a clue on what it is?

Hey Guys, this is my 3rd time taking my accord to the dealer for the same repair.

I have this vibration at 60 mph on the steering wheel and the car as well. They balanced the tires, took tires out from another car that didnt shake and still mine does. The dealer called me up and told me to take pick up the car and that they were going to take a couple of weeks to get a mechanic from the honda manufactor to take a look at my car. They took my rental car and told me that my car was safe to drive. They said the Honda is aware of the problem and is going to have to fix this up. But they will not let me have a rental car. I called up the honda customer service they said the only thing i can do is to have a claim put on them to find out (could take a couple more days) Does anyone here have the same problem out here. Does anyone have a phone number that I can call to speak to the Tech line team to find out more info on this.

This really has been a pain as its been in the shop 3 times and still not fixed. anyone know what else this might cause this vibe. Thanks guys

No shaking on mine, or any of the other v6 coupes I have driven...

I seriously doubt they replaced your tires with a set from another car. Shaking from the steering wheel at or around 60mph is tire/rim balance.

I really do not think runout would be an issue other wise the vibration would increase and decrease with speed. I have always wondered about the TMPS sensor and how much it plays a factor in rim/tire balance...

Nipples?

whats that?

Thanks Mschu.....Funny thing is that the service manager says that Honda is aware of the issue and they are coming to fix it. Is my car like a test vechile where the manufactor has to send his mechanics.....I hope no one else has this problem or its very rare......

they most likely did. if it was a defective tire that would be the easiest way to find out. ive seen parts switched out from new cars to test if a problem is just with a defective part.

Where do you live? Vibrations are EXTREMELY common in Phoenix, but it's usually the tires.

You say they swapped your wheels on another vehicle and nothing changed (on that vehicle and on yours)?

Rumor is, there is a fix coming for the noise cancellation system that the V6, 2008 Accords use (it works through your speakers). I haven't seen it yet, and I'm a little skeptical.

I live in NYC. also mine is the v6 6speed where there is no VCM. The dealer just told me that Honda is aware of the problem and the dealer has 2 other cars that have the same problem as mine that came in the last week.

My car was still shaking after the swap. and the other car was fine after the swap.

Not the wheel bearing cause there is no noise just the shaking of the car. (car has 2500 miles) Tire wear was fine for the amount of miles.

Hey guys, my TPMS just came on after i left the shop and drove like 30 miles back to my house. Called them up and they told me that the sensors need to be reset. Can that happen? shouldnt the light go on as soon as the car is started.

BTW the tires are fine and the air pressure is good.

Anyone have info on the tech line that honda service departments use???

Are you using an accurate air gauge?

Air up the tires to about 38 psi if the wheels are warm. The TPMS system will turn on the light if it reads 24 psi, but there is a tolerance in anything mechanical/electronic and most air gauges are off a few PSI (at least).

In other words, you gauge might read 30 psi, but the actual pressue is 27 psi. One of the crappy TPMS sensors might be off by 3 psi and think that there is only 24 psi in the tire. Bam! The light comes on.

And there's one other complication. If you set your tires to the cold spec when they are warm, they'll drop about 4 psi when they cool back down. That's why I said to air them up to about 38 psi if warm...

Something has to be wrong with the 8 master techs couldn't figure out whats wrong.

How is that proof of Honda "WORKING" feverishly?

So is it a vibration or a shimmy? they are completely different.

Also, its not luck... MOST accords are not "Feverishly" shimmying or vibrating, and if they are, most owners correct the tire pressure to alleviate the issue of the characteristic of the OEM tires.

if you have a deeper issue, Honda will help you work through it, if it is simply bad OEM tires, expect to buy new tires

Who are you again...

While it's certainly true the OEM tires are less than excellent... I think proper adjustment of pressure can and will alleviate most of these superficial shimmy issues Most certainly any car will act nervous with the wrong tire stagger/pressures, and I found this to be especially true with the accords OEM tires and the OEM pressure suggestion... a quick pressure adjustment and they issues tracking issue was gone.
