clunking noise
Okay Ive been hearing clunking noise for a few months now. upper control arm is new, lower control arm is new so is the lower balljoint since you cant buy it seperately. vehicle is an 05honda accord lx with 122k on it. anything is possible. being that the sway bar is alot thicker in the rear it is hard to tell if theres play in it even with using a prybar. Now i have sway bar bushing lying around and id like to swap it out. being its the cheaper item than a strut. 1. first and foremost any of the honda techs in here that works on hondas day in and out. are the front sway bar bushings commonly replaced on this particular car?
2. Id tried replacing them today and it seems like the front subframe has to come down completely to replace it? because theres no room to remove the bolts toward the firewall even if i loosened the subframe. any advice? sorry for the long story.

Re: clunking noise
Other than ball joints, sway bar end links and sway bar bushings are the most common causes of suspension clunking noises.
Struts/shocks themselves do not make knocking noises, but worn strut mounting hardware/bushings can cause a knocking noise.
You definitely don't have to move the subframe to change the sway bar bushings.

Re: clunking noise
*update*
Finally got around to taking another stab at it today. figured out why i was having such a hard time.. Theres 4 bolts in the rear holding the subframe. 2 near the radiator support. one on each side of the fenderwell.. came down enough to where i can put a 14 swivel socket. all in all.. replaced sway bar bushing. roadtest noise gone..
