2006 Honda Accord V6 engine noise
Ive had my accord for a few years now and its a noise that seems to be coming from the side of my motor where my serpentine belt is. Its only when its cold and its loud in park/neutral and a lot louder in reverse but almost fully goes away in Drive. I know that the transmissions can go bad on this model but I've had it serviced twice and it doesn't have any problems shifting so I don't believe its my transmission, I've read some other forums that people say its, the tensioner, the A/C compressor, or the power steering pump. Any one have an idea of what it could be?

Without a stethoscope it will be hard to help you. It sounds like a bearing or belt tension issue, it could also be timing belt related.
On a lot of accords a hiss can be heard from the transmission housing. This is the clutch pressure control valve sticking and creating a power steering style hiss. Moving the shifter between P and R slowly will change the pitch of the hiss if it is transmission related. A stethoscope is essential.

Does it sound like this (timing belt rattle)?

Thanks for the input! Yes, that is my noise I'm assuming that I am about to have T-belt issues? So why would it do it only when it is cold? Does it warm up and the tensioner or pulleys start to function normally?

From what I've heard, the hydraulic fluid in the tensioner warms up with the engine, and the tensioner starts to work like it should. The strange thing is, the old tensioner looked and tested good. Soon as I did the timing belt though, the noise was gone. Is your timing belt due for changing? Good luck

huh very interesting about the tensioner. Ya i have 160,000 on it and i have been thinking that it is about due. I'll have it looked at. Thank you very much!
