Default 2006 Honda Accord Oil change help!

My 2006 Honda Accord needs an oil change every 5,000 miles. I think that's correct.

I bought the Accord in August of 08 with 12,000 miles and had an oil change at 15,000. I had another one after that in February but was unsure at what mileage.

The mileage sticker for this recent oil change said 23,713 or May of 09. My mileage was at 25,700 and it's May now so I got an oil change. I don't see how I would have gone 7,000 miles in 3 months. going to and from work every week is like 350 miles or one tank of gas.

So, what I want to know is will my car be okay if I did go 7,000 miles by accident this time and not the 5,000 like Honda recommends? The little orange wrench light came on and the oil life said 15%. I don't go by that as the sticker is a better gauge. But if my car had the oil at 15% I just want to know if my car is okay. They used 5 w 20 oil.

Will going over the oil change interval by 2,000 miles, will that have hurt my car? It is fairly new too and great condition.

if they used conventional oil, going 7k on that stuff is pushing it a bit, even tho the service manual says you can go 7.5k i believe. Anyways its ok if you went 7k on an oil change however i wont go pass 5k on conventional. the protection properties of conventional oil breaks down much fast than synthetic. One more thing i suggest is not to use your oil reminder as to when you change your oil. For me, i would change the oil out every 3k if its city, 5k if it is mainly highway or 4k if it is mixed and that is for conventional.

How do I know if it's synthetic or not? It was Castrol 5 W 20.

But will it be fine, even if it was conventional? I mean I won't do it again, that's for sure.

The car is new so it's a forgiving error as long as from now on your on top of maintenance, the reason people keep buying new cars is because they don't know how to take care of them well there new so they can last forever, you can do oil changes at 20k if you want but just don't expect your car to last, If you want your car to last make sure to change your oil every 3-3.5kmiles it's not very hard to do and there really isn't a way of knowing if someone if putting synthetic unless you see them putting a just opened sealed bottle that reads Full Synthetic n the label, The best way to know things are done right is to do them yourself. plus in the long run it's a peace of mind and cheaper
