Default 2003 Accord P0685 CEL :(

So I just put a motor in a 2003 Accord and my "spotter" told me nothing was hung up so I pulled the motor and it pulled the harness out of the o2. But on the side of the harness not the sensor. I put the new motor in and figured out the wiring layout for the o2. Car ran PERFECT for 3 weeks and just yesterday the car acted funny as heck. When driving the all the dash lights will come on and car will turn off! So I traced it down and one of the wires in the sensor plug came out.

I guess when pulling the motor out and pulling the wires out of the harness clip it broke one of them and it was grounding out on the frame. So I unplugged the sensor and taped up that wire. Car now runs but I'm pulling a O2 sensor cel and a P0685 CEL. Which is ECM circuit maulfunction. 1. short circuit 2. failed ecm

My question is do you think this could have fried the ECU? The car will run but randomly will stutter and shut off. You reset the ECU and it will run fine! Any ideas?

WOWZERS.... I can't believe no one has any idea.

Well today I fixed the o2 sensor wiring, and didn't pull anymore CELS. So I started the car let it run for 40min. Started driving up the street and it did the same electrical ****. Car now will not start

I guess bad ECU/ECM

I could try and help you out but, it would help to know if it was a v6, auto, and what wire was shorting

Red Yellow was shorting on the o2. It is a auto and 4cylinder.

Most likely fried something in the ECU. New ECU is probably going to be the fix. I can't recall if you have to get the immobilizer system reprogrammed with an ECU replacement on that car or not though.

looks like the red/ yellow wire is the sensor ground wire. runs between between the sensor and the pcm ground for the sensor. I would try a pcm if possible. I'd also replace that O2 sensor.

well today I pulled the codes and got:
P0365 camshaft position sensor
P0339 crankshaft position sensor Sensor A Intermittent
P0606 PCM Processor Fault

YAY Looks like its what I thought a bad PCM/ECU/ECM. Wannakno you have any idea what I do for the immobilizer part? Do I take my pcm to the dealer and have them disable it or what?

I appeciate all the help...

Your gonna have to take it to the dealer, there is no way to disable it. The dealer can transfer your immobilizer key ID to the new PCM with their HDS (diagnostic scan tool)

thats probably your best bet. you could try in the buy sell trade part of the forum but i dunno how common those pcm's are for sale there, but you never know.
