Icon4 16 Accord Touring V6 with Hondalink problems

Hi,

I just bought a 2016 Accord Touring V6 and unfortunately, I didn't get to enjoy all the tech features it has.

the next day I drive the car, the infotainment system completely stopped working and it went all blank on me (Radio/Navigation) screens. So basically when you start the car, the HondaLink logo shows up, then it disappears after 2 seconds as usual, and it should boot up to the main home screen, but in my case you get a blank screen on both front and back screens.

The Home, Vol, Menu, and Back buttons on the side of the front touch screen comes up with the logo in first 2 seconds, so the screen works, and it gotta be something wrong with the hondalink SOFTWARE booting. Since it is based on Android OS.

I found a guy on YouTube
having the same exact problem, and there is no update how it was fixed.

Took the car to the dealer, they did the basic steps to troubleshoot. DTC testing came all OK. Also they removed the battery wires for about 15 minutes, supposedly this reset the infotainment system, but no luck.

Any experts know how to get factory reset the hondalink system? or maybe by getting into the bootloader? as I know from my experience with android, this is a software issue not hardware since the hondalink logo appears and menu capacitive buttons shows up.

Did some research before posting, the only trick buttons I found is
power+menu+brightness for diagnostic menu, but that doesn't work for me.

I've seen reports of this on the '16 Pilots. If disconnecting the cables from that battery and then connection them together for a few minutes isn't work. Time to let the dealer handle a replacement.

Ya shortening the wires to drain any power left in the capacitors did not work either.

I spoke to Honda customer relations, after 3 days I get an answer saying the dealer can not do anything as they have been instructed from honda-tech line engineers to wait for further instructions. So it is out of the dealer's hands at the moment to act on this. (the engineers knows it's a common issue.)

it's been exactly a week, I will see how further I can wait before I contact the APA and complain as this was a known issue and I was not told about it when I paid full price for the vehicle.

very disappointed at Honda for the way they handle my issue, and keeping me waiting until they find a solution.

Brand new car, you shouldn't be monkeying with it at all.

And while it's a bummer your infotainment isn't working, the thousands of people waiting on airbag replacements are far far worse.

I just got a '16 Touring myself. I, too, noticed a glitch. Not nearly as big as this one. But, there are times when I change radio stations or songs on my android phone, the information displayed on whatever's playing doesn't update. Hopefully, these issues can be resolved by software updates.

How long ago did you buy it? You should have full warranty on it. Take it back to your dealer and let them fix it. Check ur lease agreement if its a new purchase, always check return policy or any mechanical issues warranty etc.
