Default '03 4dr V6 power lock problems

This isn't my car, but a friend's...she states that she presses the unlock on the key fob and the doors will not unlock, but the lights flash. She states the doors sound like they want to unlock, but they will not. She then tried to open the doors manually but the doors will not open. The next thing she did was hold the button down so that the windows open, she was able to climb in dukes of hazzard style. The car started and drove fine...no problems there. when she got home she tried to open the doors and they would not open, she also tried to manually unlock the doors and they would not unlock. so now the car is at her place with a tarp over it because she can not close the windows.

From what I have searched and read on here it sounds like it could be the integrated control module, BUT why will the locks not open manually???

here are two threads that seemed similar to this problem...

There may be more than one problem here. It does sound like a possible multiplex integrated control unit, which is inside the under-dash fuse relay/box, and requires replacing the fuse/relay box. Here is a TSB:

http://www.tegger.com/hondafaq/tsb/accord/x03-029e.pdf

To try to open the door right now, using the key and either the outside or inside door handle, try to work the door open. (You will be trying to work the latch to release.) -- The latch may also need to be replaced.

Also, check for any blown fuses that may be causing the power window not to roll up right now.

Thanks redbull, I will be taking a look at the car this weekend, or she may take it to her local mechanic sooner. In either case I am going to relay all the info to her and will update the thread when it is fixed or not...

Have her check with Honda to see if they will replace the Multiplex Integrated Control Unit under goodwill due to the known problem as listed in the TSB.

well, it is fixed for now. She grew impatient and brought the car to a nechanic Friday. He told her it was the actuator and "reset" the system" whatever that means. He could not gurantee that it would not happen again. Is it possible that the module may be going bad and by resetting the system it will happen again at some point?

It is less expensive that an independent mechanic changed the actuator instead of going to the dealer. You should have her check the VIN against the TSB, as it was a recall regarding the MICU. It won't hurt to contact Honda to see if they will replace it under the recall or goodwill. Here is the more complete version of the TSB:
